The main attraction here is the location, next to the Balaton. People tend to stay little time in the hotel. This place is good enough for sleeping and having a shower. There is no breakfast, although I was directed to a nearby hotel for it, so kinda solvable. The room costs the same money as a super clean apartment next to the Adriatic Sea with kitchen and A/C. There is no A/C here by the way, which is unfortunate at summer time. Overall, it is Okay, but overprices by the same margin as everything else next to Balaton.

A Complete Dump
Possibly the worst place I’ve ever been to. For the short time I was there, toilet stench was rotten and the rooms smelled really bad too. Bed sheets and pillows were ancient and smelled. It looked liked the last time the room was cleaned was when it was built.
Booked 2 rooms, both with a double and 2 single beds. Not what was provided. One room had 3 single beds and one was a bed you give a 5 year old which grows with them.... The owner then tells us, basically, tough this is all she has and she’s not giving any refunds!
Basically they screwed us over, falsely advertised what we booked verses what got and now there’s nothing we can do. I hope booking.com do something as this is blatant fraud!
Definitely not a 3-star location, 1 maybe, and avoid it like the plague, that was beginning to evolve in the bathroom. We left after an hour and booked into a another place in Balatongyörök, 10 minutes away. This one night family trip now cost me the same as 2 nights but getting my family out of that hole, made it worth while!

In the reservation confirmation by Hotel.com was written that the reception is available up to 19.00.
I arrived at 18.10 and there was nobody at the reception. I start calling the phone number and nobody was answering.
I made a reservation for 2 adults+2 children and in the confirmation was written: 1 queen bed + 2 single. In the room there were only 2 single bed and 1 coach prepared as bed. I tried calling again the number and NOBODY was answering.
So we slept in 4 people in 3 beds.
Only 3 towels was prepared and no showergel in the shower

We would never recommend this place
1 There is no reception and no one on the phone spoke English. The personal manager does speak English but was not available that weekend.
2 Rooms are very different to the pictures on internet. There is no place even for a chair; you get only a towel per person, no hand towel at all, and even in the "best room", there is no place to hang the towels.
There are 16 rooms and no recepción, no facilities and no maintenance, and in the "garden", an empty, broken swimmingpool.
3 First room we got was dirty, speacially the bathroom, but we didnt take pictures. We got a second room that was ok, but after 2 nights they moved our things WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION!!! to a room that was also dirty (see pictures, and what we found when we came back at 9pm on Saturday)
4 We had booked 5 nights, and for the price, we had expected much better conditions. But we were speacially upset when we found our things in a new room!!!
5 We decided to leave 2 nights before because we could not accept that someone had taken all our things WITHOUT PERMISSION.
6 Now the hotel wants to keep the full amount for the 5 nights.
7 Only hoteles.com has acknowledged the big disturbance and compensated us.
8 We travell a lot and had never experienced something like this!!

If I traveled to Keszthely again, I would pick the same place.
The owners were very hospitable and very helpful in arranging extra activities, like our bike rental.
Practical bonuses: a fridge in the room, a coffee maker in the main hall, complimentary tea and coffee; all making it possible to grab a snack before going out in the morning.
The neighbourhood is lovely and quiet, whereas the lake, the beach and the center of Keszthely are within a walking distance.
Overall, I would recommend it to anyone who's planning to spend the most of their Balaton time outdoors, but still needs a decent and inexpensive place to sleep.
