For over ten years our powerhouse on Lake Kaltern, Hotel Ambach
The Seehotel Ambach in Kaltern has been a special place of strength for us for over ten years. The location right on the lake, the tranquility and the architecture create an atmosphere where you can switch off immediately.
The wellness area is rather small but very well maintained and harmonious. Not a cluttered spa, but deliberately reduced and relaxing. That's exactly what makes the charm.
The food is always a highlight. The cuisine is creative, high quality and varied. In all these years, we can't remember being given the same menu twice. You can tell how much passion they cook here.
For those looking for peace, good food and a stylish hotel with character, the Seehotel Ambach is a clear recommendation.

Great location on the lake, special architecture, good cuisine and friendly staff
We have spent time and again in recent years holidays at the Seehotel Ambach. We like the carefully preserved and well-maintained 70 years groove in architecture and furnishings.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and well trained.
The rooms are functional and also renovated in keeping with the original style. The kitchen is excellent, the breakfast buffet rich and also high quality. Perhaps less attention could be paid to diversity and more attention to quality when offering open wines. The very large park on the lake with the free sports equipment (rowing bott, kayak, SUP, tree boat), the beautifully landscaped pool and the sauna pavilion are thus also unrivalled. Massages are also offered in the sauna pavilion, unfortunately the massage loungers are separated from the sauna area only by a curtain. I would have liked more rest during the massage.
The owner is present "incognito", but does not take care of her guests. Here we would like a little more hospitality at a hotel of this size and price range. Competitors also offer their guests more leisure activities such as guided hikes, hiking suggestions, shuttle services and the like. There would be some room for improvement in the Ambach.

Recommendation
An unforgettable holiday with culinary delights. We have here, in addition to unique creations, experienced a dessert buffet that is second to none. The location with a huge garden right on the lake is perfect. The staff was incredibly polite and yet relaxed and straightforward. We will definitely come back.

UNFORGETTABLE STAY AT LAKE CALDARO - KALTERER SEE
The hotel is ideally located on the northern shore of Lake Caldaro, in South Tyrol, an autonomous German-speaking Italian province, about 15 km from its regional capital, Bolzano-Bozen.
The architectural achievement is worth the trip: hotel in California style of the 70s, Brutalist inspiration in tribute to Le Corbusier.
The interior decoration is in full harmony with the building.
Walking around this hotel is a constant wonder for those who love architecture and design.
Meals are taken on the terrace with stunning views of the lake; the gastronomic quality is up to the place.
A large park allows everyone to find their place to read, rest, or swim in the pool or directly in the lake which is one of the warmest of the alpine lakes: 27 degrees Celsius, due to its shallow depth, 5 meters.
You can also borrow a pedal boat or bike, free of charge. Otherwise, we relax in the sauna too.
The hotel offers a pass for free transport, buses and trains in South Tyrol.
The rooms are very well designed and decorated, they have been redone in the original spirit.
The staff is charming but never obsequious; we speak in German, Italian or English.
Bolzano and Merano are close and deserve an excursion.
In short, PERFECT stay.
Finally, it can be very hot in the summer. But it becomes a commonplace...

A heartfelt thank you
In the evening, the restaurant Ambach is exclusively available to hotel guests, which we did not know. The staff at the bar were very concerned about us organising or recommending a nice place for dinner and that on the evening before August 15. Since we did not know Gretel am See or the Seehof cellar, we wanted to remain independent for the time being and had decided on the Seehof cellar, which was fully booked. Nevertheless, the boss offered us the Tesen at the end of the terrace, with beautiful views of the lake, the mountains, the farmhouse and the parking lot with entrance. We enjoyed the wonderful evening! A big thank you to everyone! Monika, Elmar and Helga
