I would give Alessandro and the team at Villa Rucellai 6 stars if I could, we loved it here.
The property is absolutely stunning and steeped in history, charm and character. This is as far away from a “chain hotel” experience as you could get and we loved it. Alessandro was a great host and full of stories and personality. The terrace is beautiful, especially at night as there isn’t too much light pollution.
A great authentic, rustic Tuscan experience with easy access to Florence and Lucca. The villa is a couple of miles from the town of Prato (which is a gem of a place) which is easily walkable to the train.
Thanks to the team at Villa Rucellai for making the start of our Tuscany adventure so memorable.

A hidden gem

Wow, what a great place to unwind. This was an ancient villa that had so much history and charm. The staff can give great history of the home. To be clear, there are big, roomy suites, but we chose to stay in one of the smaller rooms upstairs. It was very quiet, great ac, good shower with hot water, comfortable beds, etc. however, we spent much more time in the sitting rooms or the porch. The staff will bend over backwards to be of any help. This isn’t a holiday inn or Hilton, it’s a place to unwind and relax and recharge. Highly recommended.

stairs

We were supposed to stay one night at this B&B but left as soon as we were shown our room. We had to climb 3 flights of stairs to a very old dingy room with no TV-not sure about wi-fi. The owner was very cooperative and even came to get us at the train station because the GPS could not find the facility. I did not see the beautiful building with the round pool in front that appears in pictures on the website. If you can't climb stairs this place must be avoided.
