Located 100 metres from the Alpe di Siusi ski slopes and 200 metres from the centre of Ortisei, Hotel Garni Walter features free outdoor parking on site. The rooms with carpeted floors come with a TV, safety deposit box and a bathroom with hairdryer.

feeling at home
We stayed from August 10 to 19 in room 31.
It is spacious, with a huge bathroom, a comfortable sofa, very large closets, a very big balcony with a small table and 2 chairs, and a breathtaking view of the woods of Ortisei, the “edge of the woods” trail, and the Alpe di Siusi, which can be reached by the gondola lift 500 m from the property.
The family management of Garni Walter is simply to be imitated for its professionalism and courtesy; the Mediterranean breakfast, both sweet and savory, is always abundant and refined, with many homemade cakes and bundt cakes, and the staff is always available, with a smile, to solve every little problem and give useful advice on where to go to eat in the evening and at the mountain huts. There is a large uncovered parking lot with about 11 spaces and a paid covered one.
The vast pedestrian center of Ortisei can be reached with a 5-minute walk (with a slight downhill on the way there and uphill on the way back), where you can find typical places to taste excellent South Tyrolean cuisine and shops for every budget.
Finally, for mountain lovers, we advise that once you park the car, you will forget about it because from Garni Walter you can take various excursions without using it, for example by using the Seceda Cable Car, the Resciesa Funicular, the path to the Church of San Giacomo, the Postman's Trail, and the stretch on the Ortisei-Santa Cristina-Selva di Val Gardena bike and pedestrian path.
Therefore, a highly recommended property; I hope to return!!

Nice mountain hotel with charm, well-kept and neat
The strong point of the Hôtel garni Walter is that it is run by a family, whose every member gives their maximum to satisfy the clientele. The breakfast is very varied, with many pastries made by Sylvia, a very large selection of sweet and savory items, and fresh-pressed carrot-apple juice. Sylvia gave us very good advice on places to visit (Bressanone and Bolzano) and restaurant recommendations.
The hotel is well located, very close to the city center, the cable car departures, the buses, and the municipal swimming pool. On the other hand, it is perched high up, with a 200 m steep slope if you are walking back from town! The hotel has free outdoor and indoor parking.
We received a Guest Pass that allows us to travel by bus for free throughout Val Gardena and provides free access to the municipal swimming pool, which is appreciated in the middle of August!
I stayed at Hotel Walter with a friend. We would have liked a bed with 2 separate mattresses, but unfortunately the hotel does not have any! There is no air conditioning, which is understandable in the mountains (but would have still been appreciated during a heatwave!), and there is also no refrigerator in the rooms! A refrigerator is available on the parking level for all hotel guests!!!

Bliss
Since our honeymoon in 2002, we have been on vacation here in July for the seventh time. Every time, we are thrilled anew by the great location, the enchanting rooms, an incredibly great, rich breakfast, and most importantly, the warmth of the Demetz family. The Absolute Best Stay!!
The moment you walk into the lobby, the customer service is top-notch by a family run business. Best location and best food for breakfast. Samuel is very knowledgeable and very polite and addresses all questions with firm confidence to help find what you’re looking for during your stay. Hands-down, we would recommend this to any family or friends looking to have the best vacation in the Dolomites.

What a hotel. Excellent location in Ortisei. Super room with large bathroom.
Breakfast was one of the best ever had. So many different things to taste. All good
and fresh.
And cherry on the too of the cake is the owners. Smiling all the time, helpfull and everything waspossible to fix.
