I enjoyed this beautiful hotel sitting on the canal. The air-conditioning is very weak and it took a long time for the rooms to get to be ever so lightly cool, not cold, but cool. Unfortunately, there was a heat wave during the time we stayed, making it very hard to get the room to cool down until the wee hours of the morning. Their buffet was nice and well worth the money. You pay extra to have the buffet, but it’s well worth it to start your day. I was hopeful that filtered water would be available to the guests staying there, however, that was not the case. You need to purchase water bottles in order to have it. The hotel staff were very helpful and very nice. Several tines they arranged for taxis to het around which was very helpful.. I will be coming back to this hotel in Leiden,

Fine stay, but also no more than that

Hotel was fine, we had 2 nights in 2 different (later booked 1 night nl) rooms. The breakfast was good, dinner fine, the service left a lot to be desired unfortunately. Took a super long time and everything went wrong. And a lot of miscommunication under the controls.

You fall for it again

It's still in there. If you want to eat somewhere quick and cheap, go to vd Valk. You know it but it still surprises every time, those prices do not fit the mass production at vd Valk. Again there is mass checkout and then also at the max prices and service by students who are more concerned with other things than with the guest.

Nice hotel with terrace on the water.

Nice hotel, nice spacious rooms, quiet location. Very clean. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff and friendly staff. Free parking. The hotel has a lovely terrace by the water. Location is beautiful. Near Valkenburgseweg and steam train museum Katwijk Leiden.

That MUST be better

Valk Leiden Restaurant
Booked this week for dinner on the waterfront terrace. Impersonal reception (you will be seated), but they just left us standing, while several employees were just fumbling; the girl then gave the idea that there was only little space left on the terrace, she went ahead to the terrace but just left us standing there; but the spot we chose in the sun was sufficient for us). The salad with goat cheese was duly according to my wife. Not my schnitzel: an unseasoned pork fillet (?) fried for too long (dry), buried under a thick layer of onions, the thick breadcrumbs fried for too long (dark brown). The fries were lukewarm and soggy, the second portion was hardly better.
At the times when service was desired from our side, you did not see anyone; at the times when it was not necessary, they did come to the table to ask if everything was satisfactory, I indicated that my experience was "mediocre", but that was not responded to (the question on their part: what is mediocre about it, was not asked). This twice.
In this way, Falcon's intended level of becoming a middle-class chain is never achieved. We expected more from a Falcon. Especially in their - periodic - own glossies, a completely different experience is presented. But we couldn't experience that "shine."
