Memorable stay
Stay from May 17 to 22, a magnificent hotel. The lobby is splendid; it is a pity that I could only really linger there in the last moments before leaving with my mother. A place one leaves with regret…

A complete fraud for a 5-star hotel!!!
This hotel is only a 5-star hotel in name and because of its location!! It is a massive, massive rip-off!
The photos on travel websites are extremely misleading and only show a small portion of the rooms. I’m posting my own photos, taken in August 2026, which are much more representative of what you can actually expect.
The so-called “standard” rooms are gloomy and dark because they have no windows or openings to the outside, only onto the hotel’s very dark courtyard. Dark is definitely the key word for this hotel - it is depressing. The whole place has a seriously gloomy, depressing atmosphere.
The rooms with windows that do not overlook the Bosphorus are dull and dingy. And beware: you really have to like faded, dirty-looking goose-poop green/brown, because that is both the colour of the walls and the carpets. It looks like it belongs to another era. On top of that, they say you should avoid green in bedrooms… well, they certainly succeeded here!
There are only two pathetic light fixtures in rooms with very high ceilings, creating a gloomy, dull atmosphere because there simply isn’t enough lighting - especially when your window faces a wall. And there are only two electrical outlets in the entire room for three people, one of which is occupied by a bedside lamp. So charging your phones or laptops is incredibly annoying, because you have to unplug one of the only two lights just to use an outlet.
The hotel is also extremely noisy. The ceilings are very high, so sound echoes like crazy through the courtyard (great for all the rooms overlooking it), and the rooms are very poorly soundproofed. You can hear your neighbours’ phone conversations, for example, and if you happen to have inconsiderate neighbours, you’re in for a long night. You can also hear every conversation in the corridors, toilets flushing and showers running in the rooms above - charming in the middle of the night or early in the morning. Basically, sleeping without earplugs is almost impossible.
The walls in the rooms are disgusting and badly damaged (see photos), the furniture is old, worn and clearly “as is”, and the rooms are never properly dusted — not when you arrive, and not once during our entire week-long stay, despite asking them to do it. The sheets even have holes in them!
Another example: toilet paper. Whatever you do, don’t get sick, because they ration the toilet paper and never leave any spare rolls. In six days, we ran out of toilet paper three times… incredibly pleasant!
So, this is supposed to be a 5-star hotel? What a disgrace and what a complete deception of the customer!
And then there’s the swimming pool: an unheated pool at 20°C!! So if you think you’ll be able to take a dip after a long day of sightseeing and walking around, forget it. There is absolutely no pleasure in swimming in water that cold. In fact, it’s very simple: there is never anyone there.
Now, the staff. That’s another whole story in this hotel!
The housekeeping staff are courteous, so no real complaints there, even if the job is not always done properly. But the real highlight is the front desk staff: as unpleasant as possible and never smiling. They all look permanently miserable - it’s unbelievable!
The prize goes to the hotel manager (who must be responsible for creating this awful atmosphere). She is often wearing a white shirt, and she never smiles. You get the impression that guests annoy and irritate her. You really wonder what she is doing there.
Very pleasant indeed for a supposedly 5-star hotel - especially considering that we paid a good price for our stay.
They are not accommodating at all - well, unless you pay extra. And whenever you ask for something that should simply have been provided in the first place, such as bathrobes or having the room dusted, you get the impression that you are bothering them.
So, to sum it up: yes, the hotel is extremely well located, but there are plenty of other hotels in this historic and very touristy area. So if you can, RUN from this one. It is a complete fraud as a 5-star hotel.

A great place for families to relax and enjoy Istanbul. Ideal location to most tourist sites like Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar with buses and trams close by. Service was great all round. Especially from our house keeping lady, who made our stay very comfortable.

Great hotel, really friendly staff. Excellent location, and the amenities were great. Unfortunately during our stay there there was no female spar specialists for facials and massages. Also there we had issues with the air-conditioning in one of the rooms, whilst resolved when first mentioned it stopped working again in total 3 nights during our stay there.

Cleanliness and hygiene is excellent, this is my second stay because there’s no other hotel like this hotel in this location. Very close to the centre few tram stops away to sultanahmet. Food variety is great one suggestion is baked beans but don’t know if they do it in turkey. Area has so much to see tram stops close by.
