Great Location and Friendly Staff Make Up for the City Hills!

I stayed at the Diamon Beyazit Hotel and had a great experience overall. The location is fantastic—just off the main streets, which means you get a quieter spot away from the hustle and bustle, but you’re still close enough to easily explore Istanbul’s vibrant culture. The hotel looks out onto back streets, so don’t expect big views, but it adds to the authentic feel.
Walking down from the main street to the hotel was easy, but the uphill walk back was definitely a workout—classic Istanbul hills! I was traveling with kids and a pushchair, and while some parts were a bit tough, we managed fine. Istanbul’s streets can be challenging, but that’s part of the adventure.
One thing I love about Istanbul is its incredible mix of cultures. There’s a strong Asian influence, especially in the food and markets, which adds so much variety and flavor to the city. I enjoyed exploring local gems like Bakirkoy Market (open only on Saturdays) and Mehmut Pasa Bazaar. Both places had amazing prices—especially Bakirkoy Market, which is mostly visited by locals—and the quality of clothing and goods was really impressive. Great finds at great prices!
The hotel itself was busy during my stay. There’s no breakfast, lunch, or dinner served on-site, but that wasn’t a problem at all because there are plenty of fantastic food spots nearby to try.
The rooms were not cleaned every day, which was a bit annoying, but honestly, we were usually too busy and tired from our days exploring to complain.
A special shoutout to Suleiman, the manager, and the rest of the staff—they were always ready to help and gave excellent advice. When I had an issue with the big taxi (bi taks), they stepped in and helped me out, which made my stay even better.
All in all, Diamon Beyazit Hotel is a nice, budget-friendly choice with a great location away from the busiest streets but close enough to get to all the places you want to visit. If you want a comfortable, friendly place to rest after exploring Istanbul’s amazing shopping, food, and culture, I highly recommend it!

Small but functional

Stayed here towards the end of February. The room was small - that’s why I’ve given it an “average” rating. The breakfast buffet was very good with a lovely view out towards the river. The hotel is situated in the Faith area so is a 20 minute walk to the Blue Mosque/ Topaki Palace/ Hagia Sophia Mosque and a 3 minute walk to the tram line which will bring you down to these places too.
The room was cosy& clean with underfloor heating and the bathroom was clean. Can’t fault it really as I wasn’t there for the room! Grand for somewhere to put your head at night. All the guys on the desk were very helpful.

Not a good ‘hotel’

A worn down ‘hotel’ that in reality is down a dark back side street that didn’t feel safe in the evenings/night. So overrated. We saw so many lovely hotels on the main roads nearby and we instantly regretted not choosing one of those. Breakfast here includes no fruit or European food and only 3 options on the coffee machine worked and one of those was hot water. In our 7 day stay here it was never fixed. Came back with bed bug bites all over too. I don’t recommend this place … it’s not a hotel!! Our bathroom had the tiniest sink and shelf storage you have ever seen and the grout was very dirty. Two stars for the hard working staff there. Sorry but even from the outside this hotel is run down and doesn’t look like a hotel.

Not recommended

Compared to other hotels in Istanbul, it is far behind. First of all, the lack of professionalism or qualification, especially the receptionists and waitresses (not clean). They asked us for cash; the photos are extraordinary because the reality is that the rooms are dilapidated and poorly maintained in every way.

All right.

Very friendly and friendly staff, especially Natalia. We were put in a nice room overlooking the Bosphorus. And breakfast was overlooking the sea. Breakfast was a buffet and was delicious and satisfying enough. The bathroom was not very comfortable with a shower enclosure with only a wall. However, the tower of prayer stands very close, so the singing was very loud every day
