An oasis in Hopa...

OK, here is the thing; to an average Istanbulite, the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey (Hopa, Artvin, Rize, Arhavi etc.) is believed to be a magical land with extremely beautiful nature and cute fishing towns. Well, I think every other town or city except Hopa in the region is kinda like that. Hopa is just a boring, industrial town and is only used to access Georgia (mainly to the rising coastal city Batumi) as it's only 15 minutes away from the border.
Paluri Hotel was like an oasis in this industrial and ugly city. Nothing luxurious, but the rooms were clean and were actually just as nice as you would find a normal business or convention hotel in Western Turkey.
If you don't have to stay in Hopa, then please don't. It's really not worth it. If you have to stay in Hopa, then stay at Paluri Hotel. It's the only decent place in this town.
If you're planning to visit Batumi and planning to save couple of bucks by staying in Turkey, please don't. That extra 50 bucks per night is really worth it. Believe me :)

bad experience...

It was a hotel I stayed at as part of a tour; I came with my family. Since it was just a hotel for accommodation, my expectations were already low.
But I hadn't expected the hygiene and breakfast to be so bad. The bathroom in the room smelled very damp and musty.
The breakfast was very poor. There's nothing to recommend it.
I'd like to say the staff are friendly, but that's not the case either...

Average..

Jolly Tours has using this hotel.You don't have many hotel choices in Hopa so breakfast and dinner was good enough, has terrace has a great sunset view, very friendly and helpful staff, big but old and ugly smell rooms.

Fawlty Towers and some!!!

Reading previous reviews I wondered if I was in the same Hotel on the same planet, this place has gone downhill. Whilst the rooms were as described, clean and modern, the staff were surly, would not communicate and not interested. When I came back to my room after a walk of about an hour I found the door open, my laptop and camera on clear view and passport, wallet and cards etc in my flight bag available for anyone to take, nobody was visible on the floor. When I complained to the Manager he did not seem to think it a problem!!!! Breakfast was a joke, half the time there was no bread or soup, or it was cold. After three days without internet I finally moved to the Peronti, not as nice but friendly helpful staff, internet and doors securely locked!!!

Huge rooms and jacuzzi in the bathroom

At last, a good hotel in Hoppa. The rooms were large and airy and the staff helpful. Situated right on the junction of the Black Sea and the road on to Artvan and Kars. The area around the hotel didn't inspire exploration but this wasn't why we needed a hotel in this area. Have read many bad reviews about hotels in Hoppa so this hotel was a revelation and greatly appreciated. Cons - Lighting in the rooms
