Disappointing but OK
This was hotel 7/8 on my trip.
The room was large with a comfy king/queen bed, a little kitchenette (a sink and kettle), desk and chair, separate comfy chair, large tv, wardrobe, coat rack.
They lent me their travel card ESkart as I arrived after the kiosks were closed which was kind, I didn’t use it though.
However:
The smoke alarm in the hall outside the room was beeping every 50 seconds. I arrived about 6pm and mentioned it to the reception lady. I went for a walk and came back around 9pm. Nothing had been done about it so I mentioned it again. The man didn't seem to know what he was doing. Eventually they just removed it. There was another one going off a few floors up which I also mentioned and they ignored.
Annoyances:
* The soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty
* There was 1 coat hanger in the wardrobe
* The hair dryer only ran for 10 seconds before cutting out (and was wired badly)
* The desk chair was literally falling apart, I had to bang it back together multiple times
* Some of the skirting board had nails poking out
* The bedside light was a small tube light designed for under shelves
* Wifi used a portal which was flaky
* The mattress was literally coming away at the seams you could see all the stuffing and springs
* The shower was 'guess the temperature.....wrong'
* The Hotels.com listing said:
--- Breakfast (there was none)
--- Laundry service (there was none) this was the main reason i chose this hotel
--- Soundproof rooms (clearly not)
--- Daily housekeeping (nope)
It's location is OK, about 20 minute walk down from the train station. A 2 min walk to the nearly tram stop (you can get ESKart at the kiosk at the tram stop). 5 minutes from the archaeology museum, 5 minutes from the bus hub.
TV (untested), air con (no controller), fridge (normal under counter i.e. not mini), hair dryer (poor), Wi-fi (average), had a small shop in reception with snacks and smokes.
