Unforgettable Stay at Bomani House

My stay at Bomani House was truly amazing!! I stayed for more than two weeks in different rooms and all of them are amazing! The house is cozy, comfortable, clean and surrounded by stunning nature, offering a peaceful escape from the city. Hosea is a kind host, always helping and trying his best. He speaks very good english and german. Every morning he prepared a great breakfast with eggs, chapati and fruits (see pictures). Somtimes I also asked him to cook dinner for me and it was always amazing, he even shared his recepies with me. Additionally, Hosea organized tours for me and my dad like safari, hot springs, walking tour in Mto wa mbu and a very unique trip with mororcycles! It was an amazing experience! Also he took me/us to several places aorund arusha (waterfall, arusha city, lake duluti, meru view point, panorama campground, arusha nightlife, mount meru motorcross). Also there are several things to do in and around the house like playing dart, making bracelets, relax in the beautfiul garden, have a bonfire at the fire place, cooking class with Hosea or do sports (local fitness studio haha)
The neighborhood where the house is located is called Ngulelo. It is 10-15 minutes from Arusha center and can be reached easily by bus (dala dala), motorcycle (boda boda) or Tuk tuk. If you have problems organizing the transport just ask Hosea, he will help you. What I really enjoyed is that you can walk around the neighbourhood safely, I even went for running on my own. The kids will wave at you or follow you. There is a tailor Hosea recommended to me, who made a beautiful skirt for me (local fabric, see pictures)

Very satisfied

The house is very good and has a rustic vibe! I stay in a lot of hotels all over Africa! But I had not seen until now a more understanding and helpful owner! He lapt me with everything I need it! He took me to see everything and ols spend time with me! IF you go to Arusha I recommend you from the bottom of my hart to go to him! You will not regret!!!

Host cannot be trusted with money

The host, Hosea, is super friendly and helpful. But I learned that he cannot be trusted with money.
Bomani House was the first place I stayed in Tanzania. Hosea organized a safari and helped me buy a used phone. When I paid him by e-transfer, I made a mistake and overpaid by more than TZS 2,000,000 (USD $800). He didn't say anything. When I realized my mistake, he said he already spent the money. After escalating this to his spiritual advisor (Bomani House used to be a church), Hosea agreed to pay me back over time. That was more than a month ago, I am still waiting to hear from him.
Hosea comes from a poor background. It seems that receiving so much money was too much of a temptation to him. He says he "didn't realize it at the time" and spent it. I cannot believe that. Now that I am out of the country, he ignores me.
I met many good people during my trip. Many of them need help and have asked me for money. Hosea doesn't need my help. He is young, talented, hard working has built a successful business and has a bright future.
Honestly I just want him to help some of the other people I met who are currently in much worse circumstances than Hosea.
I will update this review if he contacts me and uses the money he owes me to help the people who are asking me for help. In other words, I want him to do the right thing and pay it forward.
I strongly advise guests to insist that he itemize what is owed and be very careful with what you pay him.

It was genuinely a pleasure hosting you and your partner, and I remember the good moments we shared very positively. I would like to clarify the situation regarding the payment you mentioned, as it appears there was a misunderstanding. During your stay, I helped you go to town to find a used phone before your safari so you could keep your travel memories. We visited several shops together and eventually found one that worked for you. I took you there on my motorbike simply to help, and when we returned you asked how much you should pay for my time and the ride. Because the distance from my place to town is short and we had been having a friendly conversation about travel and budgets, I told you that you could pay whatever you felt comfortable with. You later sent the payment electronically. At that time, I believed the amount was what you intended to send, and I continued with my normal expenses and business activities. A week later, you contacted me saying the transfer was a mistake and that you had meant to send a much smaller amount. Since the money had already been used in my daily business and obligations, it was not something I could immediately return in full. However, I did not ignore the situation. At your request, we even discussed the matter with a mutual contact and explored possible solutions. I agreed to work toward a long-term repayment arrangement, understanding that this situation came from a misunderstanding, especially since the original instruction was “pay what you want.” Bomani House is a small, locally run place that I have built through many years of hard work, and my intention has always been to create a welcoming and honest environment for guests. Many travelers have stayed here and shared positive experiences, which I am proud of. I regret that this misunderstanding has led to frustration. I remain open to resolving it in a fair and respectful way. At the same time, I hope future guests understand that this situation began with an accidental transfer and not with any intention to mislead anyone. I wish you all the best in your future travels. Great place to stay

Hosea owns Bomani house. A young enthusiastic Tanzanian, who speaks good English and German and likes to think along in your plans. Whether it's a nice walk through the hills, or safari, special shops, transport or barbecue in the garden; all welcome.
The Hostel looks very cozy; homely, atmospheric and fully equipped. The garden is also filled with various plants and seating areas and you will not hear anything from the streets outside the fence.
Bomani house is a part of the center, so you are immediately confronted with the real living environment of the inhabitants of Arusha, who are not necessarily engaged in tourism, but offer their merchandise or are just active in their daily activities. Everyone is friendly and interested, but not intrusive as in the center.

Fabulous

Cozy little nest in Arusha. Hosua received me warmly and even organized an improvised BBQ. The room was tastefully decorated in an authentic style (wood, bamboo, stone shower...).
