The service is outstanding in this hostel!! I love the nightly mini events they have. It encourages guests to bond with everyone.

Nice hostel, friendly staff. The shower/toilet rooms felt dirty . Was cool to enter through the Family Mart!

Old Man Captain Hostel is in an unbeatable location—right in front of TRA Tainan Station, making it super convenient for travelers. However, the entrance is a bit tricky to find as it’s inside the FamilyMart by the station, so it took me a while to figure out how to get in. There’s also a Ubike station nearby, which makes exploring the city really easy.
The staff were friendly and spoke English well, which made check-in and general communication smooth.
As for the dormitory, the beds were pretty basic, and the room itself was quite small. It wasn’t exactly dirty, but it wasn’t particularly clean either. If you’re just looking for a place to crash for a night or two, it does the job, but don’t expect anything fancy.
Overall, a good option for budget travelers who prioritize location over comfort.

I had a really nice time at the hostel. It is right next to the train station but you don’t hear the trains at night. The staff is super friendly and they have gatherings in the evening and provide toasts with different spreads in the morning. I would have just wished for a little bit more storage in the bed.

I met interesting people here! We joined the Brownie night together and it is free of charge! We had a lot of fun:) highly recommended!
