Comfortable and Modern Hotel in a Stunning Location
On arrival, the hotel looks modern and very clean. The reception staff were helpful and stored our luggage until the 4pm check-in, which gave us time to explore some of the forest trails nearby.
Our room was spacious, spotless, and well equipped. Our stay included both dinner and breakfast as a buffet. The food was mostly Chinese, but there were enough familiar options to suit a Western taste.
The staff were polite and attentive throughout our stay. The hotel seems to cater mainly for Asian guests, but we still felt welcome and comfortable.
Overall, this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in while visiting Taiwan

Prime Location, But Comes at a Cost
You’re essentially paying for proximity—this is the only decent hotel inside Alishan National Park, and being at the doorstep of the trails is incredibly convenient and soul-refreshing.
That said, the room felt dated and not particularly well maintained, especially considering the premium price point. It could definitely benefit from refurbishment.
On the positive side, the front desk staff were excellent—friendly, professional, and fluent in English, which made everything smooth. The restaurant food was also good, despite the fact that guests are largely a captive audience due to the remote location.
Overall, I would still stay here again—but purely for the location. Incredible for the experience, less so for the value. Expect to leave with beautiful memories… and a much lighter wallet.

What a great mountain luxury hideaway!
First, a word about Alishan. It's a unique experience to feel the cold at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level, with clouds rolling in and out and with sunrises and sunsets to watch out for. Despite being a commercial tourist area, Alishan has preserved the abundant trees and created extensive walking trails up and down the recreation area.
The hotel is imposing, with a very large high ceiling lobby and a regular minibus shuttle service from 'downtown' to the hotel and back. The Beijing restaurant which serves both breakfast and evening dining buffet is large and spacious with decent elegance. Tables for families and groups are set aside on one side while solos and 2-3s are served at the front end. The dinner menu is extensive, with ice cream and extensive cake range. Also several types of soups and broths. They also offered carved roast beef in the evening.
The room itself is not very large but good enough to be able to lay two luggages on the floor. One full side of the room is the tub-shower-wash basin-toilet area, with stall doors providing privacy for the shower and the toilet. Beside the shower is the tub which has a huge window to look out of, but with roller blinds to provide privacy when you're taking a bath. Like most five star hotels in Taiwan, they use smart Japanese toilet seats.
What is unique is that there are no doors that lead from the bed area to the T&B - there's a 10 feet gap, in the middle of which is a nice 4-foot wide stone post on which the TV is mounted and below which you have an electric fireplace. We even had a chance to try it and it really worked! So you had two narrow doorways, left and right of the fireplace to enter the T&B. Cute concept - you didn't have to make any noise when you woke up at night to use the toilet.
The bedroom floor is made of weave tiles, a very nice touch, the same flooring in the corridors. Which we found helpful when you were dragging heavy luggage to your room.
Each room has a balcony with chairs and table - but it was cold so we didn't dare. There is no ac - of course - and they have coffee and a minibar with complimentary stuff. There is good lighting in the room, including reading lights. There is also just enough power outlets.
We were on the top floor and they had a corridor that ran out to a view deck, where we were able to watch the highly touted Alishan sunset. What a beautiful view, especially when you know you're the highest in the area.
If walking and hiking is your things, there are several trails that lead out from the hotel.

Great stay, worth the expense
When arriving to the park, unless very early they will try and direct you to the road on the right, but if you explain you are staying at one of the (few) hotels in the park you get priority parking by the visitor centre. We were lucky to get a space. There is then a minibus transfer from the visitor centre to the hotel every 30minutes or you could walk 15-20 minutes (not recommended with luggage). We arrived quite early for checkin so we did a few trails while we waited.
The park is busy, but the trails less so, from day trippers. The real joy of this hotel is getting up early and enjoying the park without so many people.
Sunrise: there are three options. 1) a bus right from the hotel to the sunrise viewing platform, sets off a bit later.
2) bus from the hotel to the Alishan train station and train to the viewing platform. The bus leaves 30minutes before the train so early (4.20am for a 4.50am train during our trip in late march) so we decided to walk to the train which was 15 minutes.
Both 1 & 2 are the same price 150 each way per adult. The times are confirmed at 5pm the previous evening and you need to buy your train tickets yourself from the station before 4.30pm the previous day (or on the morning but there was a fairly long queue). We also found out whilst on the train that it does a pick-up at choaping station which is slightly closer to the hotel but they hadn't told us about that being an option, plus you are unlikely to get a seat on the train at this point).
3) walk to the viewing platform. It's a long way and hilly and will be dark. Not recommend, but potentially walk back after the sunrise. Also wrap up warm!
There are two viewing platforms, the main one and then one an 8 minute walk along the road (quite a hilly walk but quieter).
Back to the hotel, we had buffet dinner included. It was good and lots of choice as well as juices and water. Breakfast was also good.
We stayed in an old room as just couldn't justify any more expense and it was fine for a night.
Trails: there are quite a few small ones around the hotel which are lovely and not too challenging.
We started the Tashan trail but it was quite hilly so we did half and walked back.
We really enjoyed our visit to the park. You don't have to stay in the park as you can still enjoy for a day visit but we really enjoyed the quieter morning before the daytrippers arrived.
Food wise there are lots of restaurants and shops at the visitor centre including a 7-11, and food stalls in another area further into the park.
Unless you want to do loads of trails you could do a lot with a one night stay if you arrive early and leave around 11am.
