Quality of food and wine

We visited the place one hot summer evening and got a charming table in the restaurant’s garden. We were three people who ordered nine different dishes, and all were very satisfied with the food. The experience was further enhanced by extremely skilled and friendly staff.
When Norway also went ahead in the World Cup during our visit, it set an extra tip on the evening.
This is one of Visby's best restaurants.

No second visit...

Overall poor service. We didn't get the room cleaned day 2, even though we asked for it, couldn't even get clean towels.
I also had to ask for toilet paper because there was only half a roll in the room.
Breakfast was poorly stocked…
Good location and good location.

superb spring menu

Homely, a little old-fashioned environment, with white tablecloths. Attentive staff. The food was amazing! We had a 5-course spring menu and were super happy! So beautifully laid out and unexpected flavors in harmony with each other! Tasty wine that was recommended.

Nice central hotel

We only stayed at the hotel and did not eat at the restaurant, which would probably have enhanced the experience. Their courtyard is incredibly cozy and it would have been nice to eat there, but this time it wasn't like that. We got room 10 which is right next to the bar in the garden. Of course, that brought some noise into the hotel room, but the volume wasn't too loud and we were tired so we managed to fall asleep anyway. If you are sensitive to noise, you should probably try to get a quieter room if possible.
The decor of the room was quite typical of how hotels of this class look these days. For my own part, I could have imagined something a little grumpier and perhaps a little more different in style, to fit with my image of an inn in a medieval town. I understand the choice of decor though and don't mind it per se, it's restful. I appreciated the details in the form of sheepskin, nice patterned curtains and products from the L:lilla mill in the toilet. The lighting in the toilet was okay, not as dim as it often is in hotels, but I would like it to be a little brighter. The bed was comfortable and the room smelled good.
Breakfast was taken at the sister hotel Kalk, a short pleasant walk away. It was very good! Just the right amount of selection and everything looked incredibly fresh and was delicious. I especially appreciated the granola, the hummus and the delicious teas.
Last but not least something about the situation. The hotel is very close to Almedalen and the promenade. There is no private parking, but it only takes 5-6 minutes to walk from the parking lot at the cold bath house. The only downside to the location is possibly that there is some life from the street outside. If you want to live more secluded and quieter, you should choose another accommodation.

Comfortable and quiet setting for relaxing stay.

What a wonderful find for a place to stay in Visby. We had a room off the Gin Garden and were very pleased with it. We slept well and benefited from having our own place to enjoy our drinks among others in the garden.
The breakfast was served at a nearby hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We would gladly stay here again. Visby is such a beautiful town and we are so happy to have spent three nights there on our Sweden holiday.
