First Camp Västerås Mälaren - cottage, Elbabyn, 5 nights, v. 28, July-2026. 4 persons (2 adults, + 2 young).

First Camp Västerås Mälaren - cottage, Elbabyn, 5 nights, v. 28, July-2026. 4 persons (2 adults, + 2 young).
Nice campsite, close to Västerås, close to nice pool, shopping, swimming area, area bikes (four places, fun activity), entertainment two / three nights a week at the area bistro, very good food in the bistro. Boule course, and adventure golf (a bit too strange courses...).
The cottage, Elbabyn ok and quite nice, very compressed, and lacked a chest of drawers etc., in one small room, had room, to put all the clothes in, became messy and unmanageable. Very worn shower room, with unpleasant mold / moisture damage on a fairly large area of the wall at the bottom where the shower is. Not renovated in a very long time, or no control of the damage... Pulling down grade.
Nice, cheerful staff (summer working young people), accommodating and nice treatment overall, genuine (not glued on).
There was also a strange, neglected area after the cottages, as part of a former campsite, where large scrap stood, including old washing machines on the ground, the area not cut and maintained, and two worn buildings...
Had to be cleaned up, shipped away all the big junk, and cleaned up. Partly pulled the area down, on that part.
Despite quite worn patio/'patio', big on our cottage and nice to be able to eat breakfast out in the sun, and dinner in the sun in the evening (when the weather allowed... three evenings, out of five evenings).
On other cottages of the same style, smaller patios, a bit strange, and how some of those houses were set up, with never sun on the patio, while we had full sun...
Overall a good campsite.
Room:
Says that the cottage is 25 sqm. Must be 35... (?) Living room, with futon sofa (IKEA), sleeping area, even though it does not say as it is. Uncomfortable to sit in, very laid back. Two small 'bedrooms', one with a single bed had plenty of room for a chest of drawers, for room to put clothes in. Was messy and unclickable, for 4 people. No railings on the upper bed in the bunk bed, and the loft bed. Hadn't had kids there...(even though it's probably meant as the baby sleeping places).

Activities nearby:
Near Västerås, there are for example 3 different sized shopping opportunities, malls.
Nice bath with outdoor pool, and indoor pool (exercise bath), but not deep outdoor pool. Even gym. Easy lunch service, and coffee, even small cafe/door on the outdoor pool.

Proximity to other excursions, per car.
Swimming at the campsite.
Adventure golf course (difficult; a little too strange courses...).
Two boules.
Possibility to rent bicycles.
Fun family bikes, four places, or for children, to drive on the grounds.
Security:
Quiet and nice.
In the cottage (Elbabyn) had needed safety edge on the upper bunk beds.
Walking:
Good walking opportunities on the area.
Boring surroundings, industrial, otherwise, in the immediate area.
Food and drink:
Very good food in the Bistro. Large selection.
Entertainment at 20, two or three nights a week, July.
Important details:
Worn in shower room (cottage, Elbabyn).
Very fresh in service building, standard, and cleaning. Near cottages.
Minus that you had to go out, and on the side of the building, for toilet, from the bistro/reception.

The actual cabins we were given looked nothing like the photos. And they were dirty, with paint peeling cabinet doors and generally run down. The cabinets did not have complete dishware, cutlery or glassware. Some of the window locks were broken and hanging. The cabins were probably adorable when they were first built but now everything is just very run down.

Okay camping

The 600-area seats are leafy and airy. The 609 is perfect if you have children who want to play in the playground, it is also extra large with a little extra space behind.
Nice playground!
The service buildings were very fresh!
The places 100-400 are on a large field, not so charming, in addition, overlooking an industrial area…
Airfield nearby so low flying aircraft. However, just fun for the children, saw some skydivers also who were appreciated. The planes were only running during the day so there was nothing to bother.
The beach was nothing to recommend. Full of duck poop and the water was murky. In addition, the evening seemed to attract groups of people (adults) who had it as a “party place”, music was played and ball games were played among the rest of us who just wanted to sit in the sun loungers and watch the children.

Nice fresh campsite but too few keys to the toilet etc.

Come here as the last stop on a 14 day holiday with caravan. Had booked online. (smooth ) envelope with location, key, map etc. was ready when we arrived. Nice big places with plenty of space o easy to park on. Great service buildings and toilets. Good entertainment. Nice adventure golf courses. A stone's throw to the water o 10 minutes from a larger shopping center.
Next to the service building they have grown in pallet collars so there are fresh spices, pea pods, onions etc. to pick up for cooking. A nice touch.
If there is anything to complain about, it is that you only get one tag / key to the toilet and shower. We are 4 and it may happen that someone needs to go to the bathroom when someone else showers.
So repent. Minimum 2 keys per party.

All right!

Perfectly ok. camping. Missing equipped service building but there was nothing. Had appreciated boiling water one morning when it rained, but it was not possible. Had no desire to start triangiac kitchen in rainy weather! Good space for tents and car, nice staff, nice mini golf, nice areas around. Would have liked more order around the surfaces though, uncluttered at the playground (stinging nettles) some broken things, trash flying around more, broken barbecue. But mainly satisfied! Clean and fresh in the toilet and shower!
Nice with the boat from the jetty, a big plus and the reason we chose the campsite!
