Delightful hotel in a wonderful leafy neighbourhood

As I wrote on the booking website, "With so many hotels to choose from Scandic Park was perfect for our six night stay, we loved the location in a beautiful leafy neighbourhood, handy to the metro, opposite a park, easy walking distance into the centre; about 15 minutes. Our room on the side of the building and was quiet at night even with the door ajar slightly for some cool air in May. The bed and pillows were comfortable, block out curtains did their job, clean bathroom, plenty of wardrobe hanging space. Our favourite time of day was breakfast in the atmospheric dining room and all the delicious food. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Room cleaning needs to be booked in-advance via reception or QR code. We loved this hotel."
We only used the metro on the day of our arrival after that we walked everywhere from the hotel, no other modes of transport: 30 minutes to Gamla Stan, 25 minutes to VASA Museum, 15 minutes to Swedish History Museum, 25 minutes to Central Station via the Brunkeberg Tunnel (I recommend locating).

Excellent!

Located truly just a few steps from the center.
Welcoming and simple environment, in the typical style of the area.
Breakfast was good.
You walk through the adjacent park or, exiting to the left, you arrive immediately in the center.

We stayed at Scandic Park for six nights in two rooms. We booked five months in advance and specifically requested rooms close to each other. One week before arrival, Alex at reception even confirmed by email: “We did assign two rooms close to each other for you and the rest of the family.”
At check-in, however, the rooms were on different floors. Staff initially said they had no record of the promise and could not find the email until I showed it to them myself. Eventually, the issue was resolved by upgrading one room. Thanks to the Greek gentleman at reception who helped us.
Breakfast was decent at first but became very repetitive, with almost no changes over six days. The juice quality and hot selections were poor, and it would be good to have at least one beef option. I was also surprised there was no Keso. Coffee was good, and Ms. Gara was the highlight, always welcoming us with a smile. She is a real asset to the hotel.
Housekeeping was inconsistent, and the towels were worn and too small. On departure day, housekeeping asked us twice what time we would leave, despite check-out being at 12:00, which felt unprofessional.
Would I return? Probably not. I have stayed at much better Scandic hotels, and this property should be better in terms of communication, breakfast, housekeeping and attention to detail.

An Average Stay That Could Have Been Much Better

We stayed at Scandic Park for six nights, occupying two rooms.
We had booked our rooms around five months before arrival and had specifically requested two rooms close to each other. The hotel advised us to contact them again one week before check-in, which I did. I then received an email from Alex at reception confirming:
> “We did assign two rooms close to each other for you and the rest of the family.”
Unfortunately, when we arrived, I discovered during check-in that the two rooms were not close to each other at all. In fact, they were on different floors. Initially, the reception staff told me they had no record of such a promise. I asked them to check the email correspondence, but they could not find it. Eventually, I had to open my computer and show them the email myself.
After quite some time, the issue was finally resolved by upgrading one of our rooms so that we could stay closer together. Although the process took much longer than it should have, I would still like to thank the Greek gentleman at reception who helped resolve the situation. I unfortunately did not catch his name, but I appreciated his assistance.
The rest of our stay was generally okay.
The breakfast buffet was enjoyable for the first couple of days, but after six nights it became quite repetitive, as essentially the same selection was offered every morning without even minor variations.
The quality of the juices was quite poor, and unfortunately the hot breakfast selections were also disappointing. This is an area where I believe the hotel could make a significant improvement. It would also be good to see at least one beef-based option among the hot selections, which would provide more variety for guests who do not eat pork.
I was also surprised that there was no Keso, the Swedish-style cottage cheese that is quite common in Sweden. The coffee, however, was good.
The highlight of breakfast was Ms. Gara, who welcomed us every morning with a wonderful smile and positive attitude. Kudos to her. She is a real asset to the hotel and made our mornings noticeably more pleasant.
Housekeeping was inconsistent. I assume different staff members cleaned our rooms during the stay because some days the cleaning was very good, while on other days it was noticeably below standard. This is something the hotel should work on.
The towels also need attention. Many were quite worn and surprisingly small, and I believe they are due for replacement.
One final point concerned our departure day. Housekeeping staff asked us twice what time we would be leaving the room. As the official check-out time is 12:00, being asked repeatedly when we planned to leave felt unnecessary and rather unprofessional. Guests should be able to use their room until the stated check-out time without feeling pressured to leave earlier.
Would I stay here again? Probably not. The main reason we chose Scandic Park was its convenient location close to our children's summer camp. I have stayed at several other Scandic hotels and had considerably better experiences.
Overall, Scandic Park was not a bad hotel, but it felt like it should have been much better, particularly when it comes to communication, housekeeping consistency, breakfast variety and quality, and attention to detail.

Nice place in a fairly central location

This is a modern hotel where you can breathe in a Scandinavian atmosphere... good breakfast and the center is not far whether you want to arrive by subway or if you love walking... highly recommended
