A fascinating place to stay - truly memorable.

One of the oldest - if not the oldest - buildings in Malmö, the vaulted cellar dates from 1307 (and is the breakfast room now). My 4th floor room was airy, with windows that opened out, a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. Room contained a high wardrobe tucked into a corner, a queen bed, a small desk and a couple of chairs (plus a TV). No A/C but a floor fan stood waiting. Bathroom - b/w tiles, very good lighting, nice shower. As in many old places, power is controlled by a wall switch - so a nightlite or battery candle is useful.
Elevator is from 1938 - you must close both doors so it will operate! Helpful front desk staff. Breakfast presented a good selection of cereals, meats, cheeses, yogurts, etc. A waffle station is at the back of the room. Location is very convenient - we walked everywhere. Just loved this place!

Best accommodation

Feel the warm welcome, they are very friendly. Taken so many pictures for a lot of fine art also old things. Digge... nice bibilotek. Cool book table
I slept so easily through the night. Should stay there a little longer. Then I wish to return again during spring/summer 2025.
It could have been 10 stars

Stort tack för de fina orden! Det gläder oss extra mycket att du uppskattade både historien och charmen i huset — byggnaden har trots allt anor från 1300-talet och vi försöker bevara den speciella atmosfären så gott vi kan.

Absolutely yes

I never would have thought I would appreciate a definitely old-fashioned hotel, where they don't clean the rooms during your stay or change the towels unless you ask, and yet… we had a great time! It is a hotel full of charm and with a long history. Large room and finally an old-style bathroom with plenty of counter space!
The library room is also very pleasant, where you can sit and have a drink.
In short, a slightly faded hotel is better than fake modern luxury.

Grazie mille per la bellissima recensione!
Ci fa particolarmente piacere leggere che il fascino e la storia del Mayfair Hotel Tunneln siano riusciti a conquistarvi, anche se all’inizio eravate un po’ scettici.
Sì, siamo decisamente un hotel “d’altri tempi” – e ne siamo piuttosto orgogliosi. Le nostre camere sono tutte diverse e la biblioteca è uno dei nostri angoli preferiti per rilassarsi con qualcosa da bere.
Per quanto riguarda la pulizia durante il soggiorno, viene effettuata su richiesta: basta comunicarlo alla reception entro mezzogiorno e saremo naturalmente felici di pulire la camera e cambiare gli asciugamani.
Grazie soprattutto per la frase finale: **meglio un hotel un po’ fané che un finto lusso moderno**. Non avremmo potuto dirlo meglio!
Speriamo di potervi accogliere nuovamente a Malmö.

Nice hotel in perfect location
