Located in Karlshamn, Hotel Carlshamn is in the city center and on the boardwalk/promenade. Karlshamns Kulturkvarter and Karlshamns Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Karlshamns Golf Club and Escape Room Mjällbyhus. Not Child-Friendly, Not Customer-Friendly – We Walked Away from a Prepaid Dinner.
From the very beginning, it felt as though children were not particularly welcome. When making the reservation, we were asked to provide the ages of our children, but it did not seem that the hotel took this information into account. Our 2-year-old was assigned to sleep in the parents' bed, which we naturally assumed would be a standard double bed. Instead, it consisted of two single beds pushed together. As a result, our daughter ended up sleeping over the gap between the mattresses, which kept separating throughout the night. We had to get up several times to push the beds back together. This was simply not a suitable sleeping arrangement for a small child.
The restaurant experience was unfortunately marked by repeated mistakes. We ordered, among other things, a burrata salad, but it was served without both the burrata and the strawberries – the two ingredients that define the dish. Instead, the burrata had been replaced with regular mozzarella, without us being informed beforehand. When we pointed this out, we were simply offered the option of sending the dish back. In our opinion, it is completely unacceptable and nothing short of fraudulent to serve a significantly altered dish under the same name without informing the guest beforehand. Replacing burrata with ordinary mozzarella while continuing to market the dish as a burrata salad is, in our view, deliberate deception.
The children's meals were also problematic. A child's hamburger was served without ketchup, and when we asked for ketchup, the waiter brought us an empty bottle. When we asked for a full one, it seemed to be treated as a major inconvenience. The chicken nuggets were served without the aioli listed on the menu, and when we requested it, only one of the two children's meals received it.
On both evenings, we waited more than an hour from placing our order until the food was served. With four children aged between 2 and 8, this is an unreasonably long wait, especially when there were no children's activities available at the hotel or in the surrounding area.
The staff were very young, and there did not seem to be anyone willing to take responsibility for the many mistakes that occurred.
We raised our concerns with both the hotel and Risskov Bilferie during our stay. The hotel's response was simply that they hoped the following evening would be better, without any acknowledgement of the problems we had experienced.
Our confidence in the restaurant became so low that we chose not to eat there on the final evening, even though dinner had already been paid for as part of our stay. We preferred to dine elsewhere rather than risk another disappointing experience.
The hotel itself is attractive, and the location is good, but the service and the way our concerns were handled fell far below our expectations. We left with the clear impression that families with young children are not particularly welcome here, and we therefore cannot recommend this hotel to other families with small children.
The only real positive worth mentioning was the staff at the breakfast buffet, who were genuinely kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay.

The only thing that pulled down the grade is that they did not remind that the parking garage is closed on Sundays o that you may call Securitas to be released (for a fee)
Sure we should have read all the signs when we drove in, but there are also international guests
