Built in a modern Engadine style, this 3-star hotel in the centre of Sils-Maria is 750 metres from the Furtschellas Cable Car. The traditionally furnished restaurant serves Swiss and Italian cuisine.

Cozy hotel
The reception was very, very warm. We used public transport, but there are parking options. Helpful tips are always provided. Public transport is included from 2 overnight stays. The room is functional and everything is in wood with carpeting, bathroom a bit older but everything top clean. Shampoo, shower gel, and soap from pure herbs! You can leave your hiking boots in front of the door, shoe polishing machine available. Sleep quality very good. The hotel was well occupied and yet very quiet. The breakfast buffet is impressive. You can feel it was made with love. The selection of different breads is incredible. Dining at Stüva Marmoré is a delight. Would love to come back anytime.

Cordon Bleu at Restaurant Maria
Following the recommendation of many colleagues, we stopped by Restaurant Maria yesterday with friends, where I ordered the Classic Cordon Bleu for CHF 38.- (without a side dish - that costs extra) full of anticipation.
What was then served was a tiny little Cordon Bleu, which was dry and had practically no cheese in it. When I had eaten the meat from both sides down to the middle piece and noticed no cheese, I complained to the service staff.
The waitress, who was actually very competent and service-oriented, brought the small remaining piece into the kitchen to present the complaint to the head chef. He opened up the meat and had it conveyed that there was indeed cheese in the middle... - she then brought the meat back opened up like that...
I will certainly never go to this restaurant again - so beware: Keep your hands off the cordon bleu if you don't want to be disappointed! The other dishes of my friends, however, were excellent.

An exceptional hotel.:-)
I booked a single room for two days at short notice after spending two nights in a four star hotel before. Despite the fact that the Hotel Maria has “only” three stars, I would always prefer it again to the four star hotel. The hotel staff makes a commitment with a warmth that is rarely found. The in-house restaurant offers a great Service with really fantastic dishes in taste. The hotel itself is cozy and welcoming and picobello clean. At breakfast, nothing is left to be desired. The surroundings beautiful. All in all a real insider tip. Thanks for the great experience.

Food flop, Service top. Stüva beautifully decorated.
The reception was warm, and we were looking forward to a nice evening, and a good meal.
Unfortunately we were disappointed, the food was nothing special.
We ordered a soup for an appetizer: Double beef essence with vegetable julienne and sherry (the sherry was probably next to it), a small portion of “Original Wienerschnitzel” for the main course, plus a portion of French fries and a portion of cucumber salad. The schnitzel was really small and pampering, garnished with parsley and currants. The lemon was rock hard so you couldn't print it out. The fries oily, and not crispy. The sauce with the cucumber salad inedible, and the cucumber slices cut much too thick. The side dishes were charged extra, the cucumber salad was available for CHF 6.-, the fries for CHF 7.-. The schnitzel, small portion cost CHF 33.-, in total we paid CHF 79.- for the food for two people.
Only the Service was good, polite and attentive. The restaurant (Stüva Marmore) is a very nice place, harmonious and rustic. Conclusion: We'd never go there again.

5 stars plus cheese filling!
We more or less stumbled in – my buddy had raved about the Hotel Restaurant Maria in Sils. I thought at first: “Yes, he’s exaggerating again...” Spoiler: He didn't.
What followed was a culinary awakening experience.
I ordered the Cordon Bleu “Tyrolean style” – it wasn’t food, it was a poem with cheese filling. Golden brown on the outside, melting on the inside, nestled on Rösti as on a Swiss Alpine summit. My buddy had trout – freshly prepared, at the table, live and in color. And what can I say: even the fish grinned contentedly.
Der Service? A mixture of host heart and telepathy. Friendly, attentive, but never pushy – like a good buddy who refills you with a beer in time without you having to ask.
Priced? Sure, we're in Switzerland. But it was definitely not more expensive than anywhere else – just much tastier.
Conclusion: If you are in the area – go there. Eat. Enjoy. And bring hunger.
