Great location for basing activities in Silverton and surrounding area. The room was clean comfortable and had just enough room for two to stretch out after a day outdoors.

Dishonest management, dangerous advice, and zero accountability. AVOID!

Our trip was ruined by this property’s reckless disregard for guest safety, followed by complete dishonesty when confronted.
Due to a sudden wildfire road closure on US-550, Google Maps suggested an alternative route via Ophir Pass. Knowing it was a mountain area, we proactively messaged Altus Lodge via Expedia to ask if that pass was safe and passable. Instead of warning us, the staff explicitly told us it was perfectly fine to take as long as we "obey the limit."
This advice was incredibly irresponsible. Ophir Pass is NOT a standard highway detour; it is a rugged, unpaved, single-lane 4x4 cliff road with steep drop-offs, loose scree, and NO guardrails—completely unsuitable for standard vehicles. Trusting their "local expertise" resulted in a terrifying, life-threatening drive before we were forced to turn back.
When privately confronted, management gaslit us, saying it was our responsibility to know the terrain. Now, in their public responses, they are trying to twist the narrative, claiming they "did not intend to suggest it was suitable" and that they were just "sharing that it remained open." This is a blatant lie. They didn't just say it was open; they explicitly told us to take it and "obey the limit."
To make matters worse, after finally arriving exhausted via a massive detour, we found nasty stain spots on the bath towels.
A lodge that gives life-threatening travel advice, blames the guest when caught, and flat-out lies in reviews to protect their reputation does not deserve your business. If you value safety, cleanliness, and basic human honesty, look elsewhere.

The check-in process is a little different as there is no front desk. So just keep an eye on your email and they send you a code for the room. The hot tub is great. The rooms are great and it’s in a neat location.

Located right at the entrance of the town. Very clean, comfortable beds, and cute vibe. The room came with comfy robes, s’more kits, and community fire pit. There is no check in - convenient code entry.

And easily accessible and delightfully modern and comfortable hotel room. There is no front desk at this location so there are no hotel employees on the grounds. We pulled up and parked, used our code to enter our room and had a very comfortable stay. For the town of Silverton, this was a very luxurious hotel room. We enjoyed it.
