Ideal and quaint

Thunderbird is adjacent Gateway, but managed by the legit duo of Andy and his wife. Parking is ample though a little crowded in Saturday’s. Bed size is awesome, and amenities are more than adequate for a travelers needs. The little mart nearby is perfectly located for minor pick ups and quick dinners. Quiet and endearing.

Here for Pebble Beach

Stayed to visit my son who is working at Pebble Beach. Hotel in a good location for Monterey, Cannery Row, 17 mile drive, etc. Room nothing special, not even a dresser. But bed was fairly comfortable, bathroom was clean. Stayed two nights. Breakfast was coffee/juice and a small piece of “cake” I guess. Too expensive for what you get but then again, your on Monterey Peninsula and on that scale it’s reasonable.

Not clean, almost decent price

This is an older motel, with some defects. The beds were quite hard. The carpet in our room did not appear to have been vacuumed or cleaned for a very long time. That’s probably because ours was a room on the second floor with steep stairs. There were no other rooms At the top of the stairs, so a cleaner would have to lug cleaning supplies and a vacuum up steep narrow stairs. And I don’t think that it had been done for an extremely long period of time. Perhaps one of the reasons that California Is in a drought is that it takes forever for the hot water to arrive. The tap had to run for a couple of minutes to even get close to warm.
The breakfast consisted of muffins cut in quarters. There were no paper plates. There is coffee, but no water or juice and no fruit. There were four chairs in a very tiny room. Perhaps there are nicer rooms that have been remodeled, but we still paid the fairly high price for a pretty run down room.

Here for the Sportscar Races

Stayed here over the weekend for the races at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, It is an older establishment that looks to be in the process of being remodeled. The location is fairly quiet. There are several restaurants that are walking distance which is nice. Beds are firm and the pillows are flat. The towels that are provided seemed like recycled towels from Fort Ord....thin, hard, and scratchy. You may also want to bring an extra bar of soap or body wash because the soap that is provide is good for one person for one bath/shower. In case you bring a family and the kids want to swim...FYI, there is no pool. Also no ice machine. Found that you can go next door and use theirs. Although it looks like a different establishment with a different name and office they seem to be related. Also note you cannot make a left turn northbound on Fremont Blvd into the motel. You also cannot make a u-turn at the signal.

Awesome Last-Min Deal

Great experience of a cheap stay in Monterey. Newly Renovated. Helpful staff open until midnight and free coffee and muffins for breakfast the next day. Clean, smoke-free smelling rooms and adequately spacious parking. Husband went out the next morning to get stuff in the car and saw the attendant check him out - A++ security. Appreciate the staff's helpful tips on going around Monterey and Big Sur. Perfectly priced with complete amenities (Microwave, Ref, Tissues, Towels, Air Conditioning). Not seedy as well coz it was well-lit.
