Excellent
A well-located, very quiet establishment and, above all, a welcome we will not forget... We spent 4 days at Judith's place because our daughter was hospitalized in Negombo upon our arrival from France. Judith and her family took great care of us during this difficult time; they helped us with the various procedures and always welcomed us with a smile. Judith, who is also an excellent cook, delighted us! Thanks to everyone.

Would not recommend. Owner appears money-oriented at the expense of any ethical values, which is consistent with the experience of a few other guests per Booking.com reviews. Communication is also lacking, the owner would never respond to our messages, despite always being on her phone.
The owner said I could not pay by card and had to pay in cash. Later that day, I saw her processing a card payment for another guest using an eftpos machine. Unsure why it was one rule for him and another rule for me.
She tried to get me to cancel my booking on booking.com (saying she'd allow the request for free cancellation) and pay directly to accommodation, citing the commission she had to pay. I don’t trust that she would have processed the free cancellation, and don’t like that she tried to make this my problem when it was her decision to list the property on Booking.com. I believe she was trying to double dip our booking.
We left some cash with her at reception for safekeeping to pass to a laundry service when they dropped our washed clothes off (we thought we would be out when this occurred). When I went to retrieve the money, as we had returned earlier than expected, the owner had ‘misplaced it’ and mixed it up with her own cash and asked how much we'd given her for safekeeping. Again, this reduced my opinion of the owner as I felt I could not have trusted her to look after our money and considered it unlikely that she would have paid the laundry service if I was not there to request the return of our cash.
Regarding the room itself, it was not ready at check in time, it was infested with ants, the shower was cold and it smelt like cigarette smoke at night (neither myself nor my friend smoke).
Do yourself a favour and book different accommodation.

Family friendly and welcoming
Warm welcome to our first day in Sri Lanka. Clean rooms with good air conditioning.
The host and hostess are very helpful and friendly. They arranged excursions for us.
Good location near a number of restaurants and to Negombo beach.

We were warmly welcomed!
It was a pleasant experience! We were warmly welcomed by the couple. We had a spacious room with air conditioning and a good shower!

Our wonderful tour experience and stay organized by Suriya Arana.
We visited Sri Lanka in June 2026 for a week. We contacted Mr. Saman Jayawardena owner of Suriya Arana for guidance and our tour planning. Based on the places we wanted to visit he proposed an itinerary and took care of our entire tour. We appreciated very much that their package included pick up and drop off from Colombo International Airport. We liked Suriya Arana as a great place to stay. Judith and Saman were very welcoming and notice that it is a family owned and were very accommodating in meeting our needs. The food is freshly cooked very tasty; we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. They were flexible, prepared items based on our preference and request. Very friendly staff took care of our needs. Our rooms were very clean, spacious with amenities. We felt that their pricing is very reasonable. This place is in a nice location and we felt very secure. What is more Suriya Arana organized our tour very well with a van and a dedicated driver Gayan. I wrote a separate review about our experience with the driver Gayan who was delegated to us by Saman. Our experience with Suriya Arana and its members was great and strongly recommend. We plan on staying at this place again and utilize services from Saman in our next Sri Lanka tour.
