Ranji is by far the most hospitable hotel owner I have ever had the pleasure dealing with. He couldn’t be more helpful and courteous. If you want to have a super experience then you must stay at this hotel!

Hotel Saji- Sami is back - to serve you better...

Hotel Saji- Sami in Mihintale was our first visit with the family. We booked a family room for four. The room was spacious, and has ample parking space, surrounded by trees with the cool breeze around you. Ideal place to be with your family to relax and have a quiet holiday out of the busy noisy city limits. It has a pool as well for you to just relax and swim around with the birds/ peacocks singing. From this hotel you could see the 'Mihintale" dagabas. The room was priced reasonable, you can request for a bottle of mineral water or for a cup of tea if needed. They have a restaurant, space for weddings, and space for other functions as well. From what the owner told me, they have been closed for some time, and they are back in business. They are on the way renovating the place, it will tak3 some time to be on full swing. But, you are still welcome to visit this place and enjoy the stay.

Excellence hospitality

It's one of the best place in heritage city just 20 minutes from Anuradhapura town drive to the hotel passing the lovely scenery.
This place is very nice with unique location facing to Mihintale Stupa and closed by a lake where you can visit.
The property run by family members and the food is owesome and delicious they make your stay comfortable like your home.
Mr. Sajith took us to see the lake and surrounding nature. All staffs service standard is excellent no words. Thanks for all of you and we will visit you again.
Highly recommend....

Highly recommended

We really enjoyed our stay here. A very friendly owner, clean room, delicious food, a garden with a beautiful view and a swimming pool. We felt very welcome and they really tried to make us comfortable and enjoy our stay - which we did. Highly recommended.

Felt like an episode of hotel inspector :/

The pool is fantastic! Respite from the heat and dust.
And it’s downhill from there. Rooms are somewhat dated, the bathroom in need of complete overhaul (see photo) and cluttered/ decorated with chintz and were dirty -fluid stains down the wall- including inside of fridge. But at least there was a fridge. There’s no wifi, only in reception. Old style plugs with some overloaded adapter plug extensions. The TV didn’t work. Though the bed and pillows were comfy.
The guest house -with aspirations of resort- is rambling with annexes here and there, and heaps of seating and sofas I’m not sure who for.
Dinner was set to be ‘beautiful food of the region’. (Dinner dining options are very limited in the surroundings). I chose the fish curry set menu 950. It was boring, bland and disappointing. Lunchtime options in the village are great- the best curry rice I had in SriLanka at Bethara Hotel and another at a great string hopper shop - 100 for 5hoppers and endless dhal and curry.
All the (male only) staff are friendly and meek. My driver from SajiSami was wonderful, informed and fun.
The manager Rajith, attentive, overbearing, alpha male and wannabe mobster? On check in ‘come we have welcome drink for you’ nice but awkward. Showed me to my room, and said, in fact he- locked -and bolted-the door to the hall, and said you come and go from the garden access door. STRANGE. I have gifts for you/ maps (nice), cheap necklaces (weird). And when it came to “we can organise this trip and that tour” he was unstoppable. When I said no he became hostile ‘I give you good price.’ I female solo traveller felt the uncomfortable radar going off.
I think he means well, in resort, in decor, in food, in trying to organise guests, just maybe 21st century hospitality isn’t his forte.
Apart from the pool, the sons taking over and maybe a refurb, I wouldn’t really recommend staying,
