Perfect stay on the coolest beach!
PERFECT
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Jasper House is a simple but perfect accommodation. Beautiful, basic white open fronted rooms with dark furniture and a mosquito netted 4 poster bed. Open air bathrooms may not be everyone’s cup of tea due to the potential spiders (huge!) but watching the monkeys jumping through the trees whilst showering is not something you see everyday!!
The swimming pool is lovely - not always a sunny place to sit due to trees but due to the incredible location the beach is only 2 minutes away so that did not matter.
The food is very good, cooked totally fresh and the staff are so happy, helpful and friendly.
The great thing about Jasper House is its location as it is a 2 minute walk to the coolest beach in Sri Lanka. Abundance of surfing, sun beds and the friendliest people. It has a very cool vibe. It is far enough away that you can get away from the people and the music but close enough to feel part of it.
I will definitely come back!

Horrible experience, dirty mattress with bedbugs.
Hotel was dirty, mattress with wholes and stained, we had to leave after the first night due to bedbugs. Would not recommend to stay here.

Don’t be fooled – avoid at all costs
Do not let the appealing pictures and charming descriptions mislead you. Jasper House turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had as a family with two teenagers. We booked two “Deluxe Open-Air Rooms” for five nights, but after a completely sleepless night, we were forced to leave. Yet, we were charged the full amount. When we requested a refund, the staff claimed they had no authority to decide on any goodwill or compensation.
The so-called “Deluxe Open-Air Rooms” are open indeed – but more in the sense of sleeping on the street. Constant noise from tuk-tuks, the deafening roar of the ocean, and loud phone calls at the reception desk deep into the night make any form of rest impossible. There is no air conditioning, and the small ceiling fan is laughably inadequate to cope with the oppressive heat and humidity. During the night, unpleasant smells from the street drift into the room, and in the morning, it is kitchen fumes that fill the air.
The problems didn’t end there. Wi-Fi was practically nonexistent – it didn’t work reliably in the rooms or even in the lobby. The service was equally disappointing: absent, unhelpful, and utterly indifferent. The safe in our room was broken, leaving us with no secure place for valuables. The breakfast was one of the worst we have ever experienced, both in quality and hygiene. Used and clean glasses were mixed together, making it easy to pick up a dirty one unknowingly.
The view from the balcony was equally distressing: just a few meters away, a man was living in heartbreaking conditions inside a makeshift hut. We left him a donation before our departure, but this sight added another layer of sadness to an already terrible stay.
As for the bathroom facilities: the sink’s water pressure was incorrectly set, so you would get sprayed when trying to wash your hands. The shower and toilet were outdoors, exposed, and poorly maintained. A leaking drain pipe caused a constant puddle around the toilet, which we had to mop up before every use.
In short, Jasper House is not a peaceful boutique escape – it is a nightmare. If you value your comfort, hygiene, and sanity, stay far away from this place. It was a complete waste of our time, money, and energy.

Underwhelming and did not meet expectations
Was a terrible stay. The hotel is badly maintained and tired. The bathroom door locks were broken. Broken towel rail. No way to hang clothes, even keep soap and shampoo near shower. Floor tiles were slippery and a real hazard because of no shower enclosure. Food and service were good and Amelia really tried to help. It was yet a disappointing experience

Delightful hotel
Jasper House is a delightful hotel. I stayed here for 6 days and partook in a yoga retreat organised by a third party. The hotel has recently been renovated and looks in splendid condition.
The top floor is now entirely dedicated to yoga, sweeping views over the ocean as well as over coconut palms. Evening yoga is magical here: the sun sets and the sound of birds, monkeys and other wildlife is wonderful. Morning yoga is also great and makes sun salutations more relevant than ever.
Rooms are spacious and fairly basic but elegant in their simplicity. The outside shower and lack of windows add to the tropical experience.
The restaurant downstairs is more like a large eat in kitchen. I loved the food and it got better and better as the staff got to understand what we liked.
But best of all were the staff. Very courteous at the reception but the kitchen staff, 3 guys in the morning and 3 in the evening, were delightful and lovely. The looked after us like family and pampered us with food and friendliness.
Jasper House is a delight and their employees have made my stay unforgettable.
