You should have come here more - YES!

Lived here with a friend for a week in February 2026. Everything was great - spacious room on the 3rd floor with balcony and ocean view, a good location almost in the center of the bay, pleasant sympathetic staff, delicious hearty breakfasts. Our plane was late at night and check-out was 11 days, and we were offered a room where we could leave our things and shower before we left. Also through the Gesta staff we went on a tour of the river safari - it was super (saw several crocodiles, monkeys, varana, beautiful birds). Taxis from/to the airport were also via the Gesthouse. Have a great holiday here!
From the downside: Sometimes there was no hot water, but we weren't too worried. At night, there was noise from the road, but we knew about it beforehand, so we stocked up on earplugs.

Book the Island Suite, and enjoy the best coffee in Sri Lanka at the cafe downstairs.

We were only here for one night, but loved our time in the top floor Island Suite - super light and spacious, cute design, and with a big balcony that looks over the beach. The best part for us though was the cafe downstairs - AMAZING coffee (just how we like it in Melbourne!) and great food. The bar/restaurant upstairs (open from 5pm) was excellent as well (the veggie burger and 50,000 mini fried potatoes was a highlight for me!). Definitely recommend.

Awsome!!

Stayed here for 2 and a half weeks with my dad and his girlfriend. And i must say It's Been awesome! Very kind staff, We only had to shop the food and then They would prepare it for us! (They also have their own menu) Always smiling staff When you order or ask for help! There Rooms were very nice with an aircon and a fan:-D Nice double beds and a very Pretty toilet, and a Nice Big balcony! + It's placement close to the Beach just makes it even better!! I recommend This place!!

Great location, nothing else.

We stayed here for our first two nights in Weligama, and while I have stayed in my fair share of cheap rooms, at 35 USD per night this was the worst "cheap” place I have been.
The location is about the only thing it has going for it.
The room was opened when we arrived, so full of mosquitoes which wasn’t a massive issue, however I assume the room was opened due to the overwhelming mildew smell in the room.
The bed base was concrete, and under the mattress it was lined with cardboard. The sheets and towels were stained and looked like they should have been replaced years ago. It was very difficult to sleep in the room due to the smell and although I was recovering from a cold, the coughing seemed to get worse when I was in the room. On our final night, at 10pm, I opened the pillow case and the inner was covered in black mold spores, this can be very dangerous to people with asthma and mold allergies, let alone a healthy person.
I really couldn’t recommend this to anyone, there are cheaper and cleaner places to stay in Weligama.

Absolutely amazing staff! Best service!

The service was outstanding, great food, clean room! Everything was great and we were extremely happy about our stay! Definitely a visit worth if you come to Sri Lanka and consider staying in Weligama
