Good for a stopover

Highly recommended for a short stopover or solo trip.
Pros: Clean room, incredibly spotless shared bathroom, and exceptionally friendly staff. The shared living space and balcony give you plenty of room to stretch out beyond your private bedroom. Atmosphere is good. It’s of okay-ish value. No noise when we stayed thanks for good neighbors.
Good to know: Towels aren't provided (so bring your own), soap and shampoo are included, and the water heater in the shared bathroom wasn't functioning. Also, be prepared for pushy tuk-tuk drivers immediately outside the main door.

In the city

Great location. Staff really helpful with getting tuk tuk (Tony) who showed us the sites and was really informative and great price and local restaurant for traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Room nice nice and clean. Roof terrace nice but quiet when we were there. No alcohol on site to purchased our own. Only down side was no kettle in room and wi-fi just ok in room. Would definitely return ☺️

Big dorms with big enough lockers for backpacks. Dorm beds could have a small shelf to keep you phone etc and also a curtain for extended privacy.

Sleeping once is fine.

The location is quite good, close to the train station and bus station. There are many other buildings near the hotel, old, interesting. The red building next door is a supermarket. The hotel staff is pleasant. But the hotel is very tired. The room floor stuck to the shoes. The closet in the room wouldn't open, but after an effort, I did. Inside the cabinet there was a safe that did not work (apparently the battery died). Room door is flimsy. There are sockets, but they have to be found. Apart from 2 bottles of water, nothing in the room (kettle, tea, coffee, etc. - not available). However, the air conditioning works, the bed is present. So we can sleep over once. Only somehow without joy.

Staff was very polite and helpful. the hostel was very nice and clean too.
