Great location in Hikkaduwa
Great location right on the beach. The rooms are fine and the swimming pool (also beachfront) is nice and relaxing. I think the location is the best part though. Surf break just right infront and the main break just a short stroll to the right, the turtle and snorkling area a short stroll to the left. Freindly hotel manager!

Только холодная вода, всё "убитое"....

A nice 3* by Sri Lankan rate
A small cozy hotel with clean apartments right by the ocean. There is a bit of dampness in the rooms, but luckily no fungus, which is quite uncommon of hotels situated near the ocean. They serve fresh breakfasts, and most of the staff is friendly (however, some of the kitchen staff should pay attention to what kind of omelette clients order for breakfast).
A specific trait of the hotel is that here lives a dog - a golden retriever owned by someone from the staff. So dog lovers would enjoy this place especially

An amazing place to stay, attentive and pleasant staff
Nippon Villa is a nice place to stay due to the following reasons:
1) Firstly, we had a room on the 2nd floor with an ocean view. It is a really charming view and unforgettable sound of the Indian Ocean. The bed is a good one, with a romantic baldachin which saves from some mosquitoes and creates a peaceful and unusual atmosphere in the room. So, a sleep is a long, deep and just amazing.
2) I really liked the stuff so much. I would like to specify such members of the hotel's team as Anjana, Pasindu, a big ginger dog Duke :)) Anjana is a reception manager who is very attentive, may help with any question, solves any issues, gives good and true recommendations as well as life hacks, truly share a local experience. Btw, Anjana has a very good command of English. So, definitely, you will have very interesting conversations with him as a manager and as a local. He is a very reliable and helpful hotel's member. It is also important to underline, this guy is a pleasant and smiling person.
Pasindu is a hotel's member from the kitchen. He is also very attentive and cooks very well. I enjoyed his omelettes so much.
A dog Duke is an enchanting nice dog. We all loved her soo much and met dawns on the beach together ! :)
We felt so much joy and were truly happy to stay there. I am very grateful to the Nippon Villa Staff! We will definitely come back soon again.

Filthy place
For $95 per night this place is a dump. All the reviews saying this is a good deal, they don’t know what does $100 per night get you. Mostly Russians in the hotel. Room with four poster bed and mosquito net on website looks nice in pictures. Bathroom in that room is filthy. Whole place stinks and even has a stinky dog. Doesn’t look like he is taken care of or cleaned. Ponds are full of gunk. Bathrooms are falling apart, showers are dirty. Why does Sri Lankan government have this place open. You can do better by paying same or a bit more just two places down. We left after one night to resort for $120. Even the beach is rocky and sand is grainy. Pool is filthy. Gutters drain right into the pool. Breakfast is nothing worth close to $95. Did I say this place is filthy. Moldy.
