We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here. It was an oasis of calm and tranquility with the gorgeous pool and beautiful garden. The staff couldn’t do enough and the food was wonderful. They arranged our tuk tuks and transfer to our next destination. Top marks.

Worst experience

We go with family, they gave us Villa and 3 rooms, not accomodated in the mail hotel building , this is infront of the mail hotel. Rooms had too many extra materials which makes room very conjested, like extra small bed, table etc. Rooms become very small with all this extra furniture. Many maquitos, Food very bad quality, nothing to eat for Vegeterian guys. We cancelled our booking for next day as it was niot possible to stay with un hygenic food.

Pathetic place! Avoid at all costs

The place stinks and the service is pathetic. Too far from the beach. It is run by a bunch of liars.
We got cheated by the reviews online. Was told by the lady at the desk that the beach is very close to the hotel and we tried walking to the beach and it was over 5 kms.

Peaceful location far enough away from the main drag

Check in was promp and efficient, the property is very clean and well maintained and this is visible as soon as you come through the gate. (apart from the swimming pool I will come back to this later)
The room we booked was a large room with balcony, the room itself was spotless as was the bathroom, and the balcony was a nice area to spend some time on the rocking chair chillaxing. We could have been doing with a small fridge in the room to keep our beer cold. There is no alcohol in Haus Berlin the same as in most hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka they were all dry hotels.
WiFi in the room was only useable between waking up and 0830 after this it was that slow it was unusable so not as described on website unfortunately.
All housekeeping staff whether cleaning or cooking were brilliant and done a fantastic job of keeping the place clean and tidy, they always had a smile for you at any time of the day. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely fantastic, a selection of fresh fruit, fruit juice, a spicy omelette, followed by Sri Lankan staples of Dahl, string hoppers and sambal with lashings of tea or coffee to wash it down.
On arrival the swimming pool did not look clear enough to swim in, which was a shame, although as the week went on the pool looked clearer but it should have been like that from day one and I would have used it.
The beach is a good 10 mins away by Tuk Tuk as is the town. We used the beach next to Bentota station.

Good stay.excellent food

Friendly staff.
Awesome breakfast spread.
Good budget stay. Nice rooms with AC.Spacious bathroom.
The staff is very welcoming n cheerful.
Definitely recommend if you are looking for a place with basic amenities to stay while you are exploring Bentota.
Dont miss out on their SriLankan breakfast menu. Kudos to the sweet charming lady who cooked the tasty idiyappams ( string hoppers)
