Lovely peaceful hotel

We had a really enjoyable stay at hotel Nilwala and extended our stay from 2 to 3 nights. We originally were in a standard room, which Shehan communicated before we confirmed as all deluxe rooms were fully booked. We were happy with this and the standard room was clean and comfortable with all the same amenities as the deluxe. We moved to a deluxe room for the last night and this was just as the photos, more modern than the standards but still super clean and a lovely private balcony. Views over the river are just beautiful, it’s a wonderful location. We could walk to one beach locally approx 10mins & we also got a tuk tuk to Bentota beach for 400r. We ate a couple of meals in the hotel and the food was delicious, very freshly prepared and the service great. The team were always friendly and happy to help, we were well looked after. We would definitely come again, thank you Shehan and team.

1000% NO - Misleading information on Trip advisor

This place is nothing like what appears here on trip advisor. We have visited here and was greatly disappointing,
1) First room they shown to us has only 1 CFL light then we asked for room change and the we have 1 small CFL tube and 2 night lamp.
2) wardrobe is dirty, shabby no safety case.
3) No lights outside balcony , sitting in balcony at night time will surely scare you.
4) No internet connections ( they claim the wifi is available in loby but mind it, the loby means reception area on ground floor) that too was not working.
5) Not much option for veg.
6) A poor door knob was the only thing we have for safety at door. be careful while Opening door knob with key, you might take that know in your hand.
7) Non friendly staff, they have noting to do with a guest have arrived or departing, I took out my own bags from car and kept at reception which later there person took to room same happened during check out.
8) Intercom is working but remember to plug the charger in the extention board placed next to TV.
9) TV dosent work, remote not working also all the wires and plugs are open. Fix all power supplies before you use it.
-- seriously not at all worth for money..... and please... hotel is completely not like what shown in the pictures.
Visited there in month of October 2016.
Thank god we planned for only one night there...... it didnt spoiled my trip...

Magic vacation)

Rested with my wife, everything was just wonderful. Wonderful hotel with friendly staff and very tasty and fresh sea food, it was the most delicious lobster in my life!)) Very cozy atmosphere and feel like at home. We really enjoyed this place. Thank for everything Nilwala Hotel..

Most amazing experience

I and my hubby are just back from our amazing vacation in srilanka.
We stayed at hotel nilwala for 4 nights. The experience was bliss. The staff were extraordinarily friendly. The owners made us feel at home.
I can never forget the long conversations and the fishing we had every night after dinner. I already miss Milan, Rambo (Ranga), our dear Mr. Manager and sweet music of Samith.
And the food.... ooooooh it was heavenly. Who wouldn't feel like hugging the chef after tasting those wonderful dishes!!! Srilankan food is yummmmmyyy but the winner was their SEAFOOD PLATTER.
It was the best we had and we had tried it out in quite a few countries.
The seafood were extremely fresh and literally melted in our mouth.
And they have free boat service to the private beach as well as the public beach. Both are about 1 min from the hotel. The water is clean and beautiful.
Neil our boatman is a sweetheart. He took us to the mangrove forest which is close to the hotel. We had seen different sorts of birds and animals. Also played with baby crocodile. He even took us for a trek in the woods at the Buddhist temple in the private beach.
God!!! I can forever write about our experience there. And we are definitely going back.

Great Hotel

Very nice hotel. Staff lovely and speak very good English. It is right on the Bentota River and sitting in the shade with a drink is magic. They have lots of weddings here and it is a joy to see the wedding party in all their finery.
