Chanca – A pleasant experience in Serpa
A good discovery at Hotel Serpa. Chanca presents a varied menu, with a clearly Alentejo identity, well-prepared traditional dishes, and an interesting selection of regional wines. For lunch I chose grilled veal with egg, accompanied by a fresh salad and some excellent olives. The meat was tasty, well grilled, and very well presented; I would just leave a small suggestion: some extra attention to choosing a slightly more tender cut would make the dish even better. Nothing, however, that spoils a very pleasant meal.
The space is beautiful, careful, and comfortable, with tasteful decoration and a tranquil atmosphere. The service also deserves mention: the employee who assisted me was professional, attentive, polite, and efficient.

Excellent hotel for a relaxing few days!
Excellent hotel! Good rooms, comfortable, honest food, pleasant atmosphere, impeccable cleanliness. The whole team is friendly and professional. I highlight Catarina from the reception, Ruben, André, Saillesh from the restaurant/bar, and Marina from the rooms. They are excellent professionals, friendly, concerned, and attentive. It wasn't our first stay, the service is consistent and always good. The hotel is perfect for a few quiet days in a tranquil place. Nice pool. Excellent quality/price ratio. Back!

It's always a great stay
It is always a very pleasant stay when I stay in this hotel. Clean and well organized, with friendly staff and good facilities. The hotel restaurant has a good price/quality ratio and the service is quick and attentive. Just a constructive criticism: the suites lack pillows and a small blanket on the couch for exceptional comfort.

Overall, too many weaknesses for us
It certainly depends on the target group and purpose of the stay how you feel about this relatively new hotel. For us as tourers on a car tour with beautiful country/boutique hotels it was unfortunately a mistake. The hotel is very modern, even almost spartan. This may be considered stylish, but it wasn't followed through consistently. Constantly running large-screen TVs both in the restaurant and on the terrace annoy, as does the continuous sound from bagpipe music. On the terrace, cozy stay is not the order of the day. There is also a lack of sun protection and comfortable chairs. That's much better. The decor of the room is technically ok, but also poorly thought out and loveless. Why, for example, there is only one chair in the room, did not reveal itself to us. Bathroom and bed were ok. The staff seems strangely uninspired or inexperienced. There was one exception ... to that even more. Breakfast was average. It was already sufficiently on offer, but it also lacked the whistle and someone who cared a bit in the order at the buffet (follow up, arrange, ...). So it always seemed somehow "eaten bald". Good are the ample parking in front of the hotel and the short walk to the really quite beautiful old town. Overall, it's only enough for us to have a "twosome." Now to the exception of the staff: On the first evening we were the only guests in the restaurant and also in the bar almost alone. The bartender/waiter Ruben, who seemed to be in charge of both the bar and the restaurant, took very good care of us. He always had us in mind, was friendly and fixed and seemed to do his job with passion. This continued on our second evening, even if there were significantly more guests on site that evening. Thanks for that!
