We went to Gerês without great expectations.
Well said the time we did it. Three superb days.
The price of the pension horizon is brutal. The cleaning 5 stars is the sympathy of the owners has no comparison. Janete who is the employee is very careful to receive the guests. But what I liked most about the price is the cleanliness. I will be back for sure.

Home from home cosy nest above the village

The warm and caring greeting from our host was just the start of a great couple of nights in this intimate and very comfortable guesthouse above Geres. The view from our balcony was stunning, the breakfast glorious with her home made honey, lots of fresh fruit, local cakes, and little extras that put this place a cut above the rest. We made good use of the spacious guests sitting room upstairs too. Crisp clean white linen beds and easy parking opposite. The village centre is just 5 minutes walk down the hill or you can walk up into the mountain woods in 10.

Excellent service, beautiful view

We stayed at this pension for 4 nights.It is a modest pension but very well run.Clean,service is excellent.Great views.Silence,fresh air,water from the mountain source.We even had a food there which was tipical portuguese and great value!Hartly recomend this pension

Weekend at Gerês...

Me and my familly decided to spend a weekend at Gerês.
The price made up our mind when we book our hotel.
So, about these days, we decide to give a 4 out of 5 in our staying, which we describe:
+ Price
+ Location
+ Service
+ Breakfast
+ Internet speed (when it works)
+ Employees
+ Cleaning
+ Views
- Internet connection breaks a lot
- Energy falls a lot too
- No swimming pool inside the complex
- No lcd tv set, only a small crt
- No air conditioned, only a small fan
Could have been perfect.
Resuming, don't expect too many luxury in this quiet and nice hotel, instead, it has all the essencial services for an affordable price.
Afterall, if you decide to visit Gerês... this is for sure, a place you can choose.
Thank you for a pleasant stay. Recommended.

Clean but not a good value

It's a Pension Pensao not a hotel. Room are ok, bathrooms are seventies style.
If you're room is next to the street it's noisy as the parking is in front of the house.
The owner is ok but she doesn't take any credit cards ! Payment by cash only but if you want she come with you to the ATM machine in the city (25 min walk go and return) ... Booking.com said credit card were accepted, I am less & less satisfied with their informations.
Breakfast is ok but it's not like a small buffet, the owner decided what is good for you ! she doesn't give you the choice ! but it's ok I don't want to be nasty.
Main problem is payment in Cash + noise due to the road. I've paid 50 EUR for double room,
I had better deals during my trip in Portugal.
