Incredibly bad hotel.
The hotel is good if you are looking for a simple overnight stay. We had it for 2 weeks with 2 people. In the room, there was only 1 small closet, which is sufficient for 1 person and 1 week, and we had to live out of the suitcase.
The safe is very small and costs extra. Additionally, we had mold in the room.
If you order something extra with the meal, you must pay for it immediately. Every time, with every order.

Es scheint, als ob Sie das Bedürfnis haben, Ihre Meinung auf allen Bewertungsplattformen kundzutun, und wir verstehen Ihre Kritikpunkte nach wie vor nicht. Vor allem, und das ist der erste Punkt, der uns beschäftigt: Wenn es Ihnen so schlecht geht, warum haben Sie Ihren Aufenthalt dann verlängert? Sie waren sogar verärgert darüber, dass Sie Ihr Zimmer wechseln mussten … das können wir nicht nachvollziehen. Wie wir Ihnen bereits auf der anderen Plattform mitgeteilt und in Ihrer Bewertung geantwortet haben, hatten Sie das einfachste Zimmer und Paket gebucht. Wenn Sie mehr Platz gewünscht hätten, wären Ihnen andere Zimmerkategorien – Superior oder Deluxe – zur Verfügung gestanden. Wir verstehen Ihren Ärger, aber schlechte Bewertungen tragen nicht zur Verbesserung der Situation bei. Wir wünschen Ihnen weiterhin einen angenehmen Aufenthalt.

Not my choice, pretty massive
Big hotel. Reception not great, came around later. Car to park on p-place at hotel, reservation not possible, full is full. Lift capacity in morning is little, long wait to get to bg from 10th for breakfast. Breakfast buffet basic, but fairly okay. Orange juice is either too strong or too watery, tea tastes like chlorine. Big noisy hall.

1980’s Timewarp needing investment
So we stayed in the hotel for a week on a B&B basis. Trying to think of constructive things to say! The hotel is at best a two star property. Investment is required before advertising it as a four star property:
Decor:
Tired and unimaginative
Breakfast:
Zero variety, the cheapest possible ingredients (for example soggy croissants and juice that had nothing fresh in it).
Pool area:
Tatty old loungers and had to pay 10 Euros deposit for 1 pool towel - first time in my life I’ve had to pay for a basic amenity. Then had to pay another Euro to swap it for a dry one.
Room:
Was cleaned daily - perfunctory and dull decor though.
Staff:
Seemed timid and apathetic. Laura on reception must have been absent the day the “Hi, welcome to Madeira, how was your journey?” greeting training was given. More of a sullen “no rooms ready until 3pm” not helpful when you arrive at 10am. The whole place seemed to lack any form of energy or proactive management, it felt lethargic, sad and under invested. I felt stuck in a 1980’s time warp in both decor, hospitality and management whilst staying there.

Thank you for such a lovely, well writen and subtle review. Further thank you for your visit, thus indeed was a great honor and pleasure having had you with us. We do most indeed hope to welcome you back for a more serviced stay with full protagonism, grant you one of the full refurbished rooms, even if again booking the most basic possible package and with full gourmet breakfast reviewing the existent dialy rotative breakfast buffets extended with extra freshness on top of our usual daily deliveries.

Avoid this hotel
We stayed at this hotel for a week and it leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are old, very deteriorated, and quite dirty... the worst part of all was the food; breakfast was passable, but dinner was terrible, almost every night we left almost without eating. They didn't restock, and by nine o'clock, even though the hours were until 9:30 at night, half the items were already gone; it's worth noting that there was already very little to begin with... I would not return or recommend it.
