An opportunity of a lifetime to be able to stay at the Aruntawi Lodge!

Small huts on floating islands made of reef, hand built by the local community. You are immersed into the local life and culture. Very clean rooms, the whole family try very hard to welcome you! This was really a rare lifetime experience which I highly recommend to anybody who wants to get a real feeling of what it is like to live on a floating island!!! I was there with my husband and two children and we all hope we can come visit again one day!!!

lack of professionalism. don't book this hotel

I advise against this place! Completely lack of professionalism. Despite the confirmation of the reservation, two days before arrival, the hotel suddenly canceled the reservation, causing problems with finding another accommodation.

celestial cultural experience

Having dreamed of visiting the Uros islands as a child I was glad for this once in a lifetime cultural opportunity. Eddy and his family are warm, kind people who give their guests their all, openly and thoughtfully. They provided prompt pick up at Puno as promised and drove us safely to the dock where the father awaited us with their boat for a smooth ride to the floating home they own. The family greeted us and provided a warm welcome to their home. They are sincerely kind to guests and provided wonderful meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner that were healthy and bountiful. We enjoyed our interaction with the family while Eddy provided translation in the Aymara language to his parents. We had two boat tours. One to the local Uros islands which frankly are a bit touristy and one to the main Titicaca lago. Eddy's family home is away from the bustle of the main Uros area, quiet at night with a beautiful nightly display of the universe from our bedroom. It was so clear that the planets and stars were reflected in the waters of the lake at night. Eddy provided detailed insight into his community's culture and life. They have a wonderful life and we are glad we came to their island, if only experiencing it for three nights. Admittedly it is cold at night but the days are filled with sunshine and clear skies. We are so happy to have shared this brief time with Eddy and his family. You will be glad to go there if you can. Gato who guards the island was also and added asset to travelers. Upon leaving all was arranged by Eddy perfectly for the taxi to the nearby airport.O and R

Wonderful lake experience

Our host Eddy and his family were very welcoming and gave us a wonderful experience, including photos in traditional dress. Dinner and breakfast exceeded our expectations and Eddy was able to provide detailed answers to most questions in good English. Eddy arranged all transfers and provided a two hour boat trip around the islands.

Paradise afloat

We spent just the one night here but it will be a lifetime memory to cherish. This family rely primarily on tourism for their income but have not sold out. They are the real thing, committed to their traditional way of life and community. Rooms are basic, it's very cold at night and the food is unexciting but none of that matters. Dawn and dusk on a reedbed island is an unforgettable experience. The whole family and the crazy cat were delightful. We were hugged by mum and dad when we left. Their son Eddie was a perfect host. Tip: turn your phone off!
