Very nice and warm place. You honestly feel like you're at home. It is very important that it is managed by those who have it.

Location is great.
Atmosphere is friendly
Female Dorm called Balcony is spacious.
Value for money
Cleanliness is average. Too many woofers. Confusing who is rostered.
Noise level goes from loud to quiet depe di g on the night of the week.
Hostel is ideal for young adults, party punters, cruisey lifestylers.

Violent Threats from Staff Member

I stayed at The Palace for a couple of weeks last month. It was mostly a pleasant experience, until one of the staff members, completely out of nowhere, started threatening me with physical violence.
She said she would "love to knock my teeth out and bash my face in," that she would "get me" if she saw me off the property, and that she was "the real princess."
I had never spoken to her before and had no idea who she was. When I asked her to confirm these were real threats, she said yes. I told her I'd have to report it. She cackled and said, "You'll never be able to prove anything."
The police visited the property to speak with her. Their advice to me: leave, because the property wasn't safe in general.
Later, the owner approached me, looking dazed, and asked, "You called the police?" I explained why. He mumbled something and stumbled away. I later learned he essentially keeps her on the property like a pet, with no intention of removing her or addressing the situation.
The couple who manages the property are genuinely kind people, and I would have gladly skipped this review if the issue had been handled properly. But the owner offered no apology and seemed incapable of making a responsible decision. So I'm leaving this because she is likely still working and living there.

Lovely couple of nites!!!

A lovely couple of nites staying at The Palace, room was spacious, clean and warm and friendly check-in!! An older property but has everything you need for a stay, central to the CBD, kitchen facilities and lots of friendly guests to talk to!!!
