Excellence
We stayed with Debbie and Dean in 2023 and we were so impressed that they were our first port of call in the South Island again. We (and you if you stay there) received the same love and care, smiling faces, always helpful, delicious breakfasts with homemade items, preserves made from fruit grown in their gardens. The accommodation is excellent, bed and bedding of excellent quality. Guest lounge with stunning views and tea/coffee/hot chocolate. We plan to return yet again soon. Thank you both for another wonderful stay.

Moana Haven is amazingly beautiful in every way
Moana haven is exception in every way - location amazingly close to so many great walks. Hospitality was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Debbie and Dean are the best hosts. The breakfast are scrumptious with different delicious dishes each day - far more than a continental breakfast. Fantastic value in every way.

Beautiful views, outstanding host.
You will not find a more beautiful location nor friendlier, welcoming hosts. We instantly felt at home and relaxed. Debbie makes wonderful home made goodies - poached fresh fruit from her lovely garden, warm cheese muffins, home made jams, and the lightest shortbread I have ever tasted. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she has lots of advice and recommendations for the area.

Stunning views and outstanding hospitality
What a fantastic and memorable experience it is to stay with Mike and Connie. With excellent home-made breakfasts comprising Connie’s own bread and preserves, through to the special touches like bottled water and chocolate on arrival, they know how to treat guests like VIPs. It was with sadness that we said our goodbyes to this hospitable couple.
The views over the Sounds are stunning, and this is where we enjoyed our breakfasts and the sunsets. At breakfast, we sat and watched 2 families of quails foraging on the pathway before one of the cock quails, perched on high, sounded the alert and the quails scattered. Then a weka appeared, a brown ground bird known for its aggression, and it foraged where the quails had been moments earlier.
The gardens are spacious with numerous fruit trees within which to wander. Mike’s pride and joy, a Zephyr V6 dating back to 1963, sits idle in the shed. The studio of Valerie Maynard, a renowned New Zealand potter of 47 years, is within walking distance at the home next door. (Her husband is restoring an old Caterpillar bulldozer in his shed.) Havelock, with its marina and restaurants, is 10 minutes’ drive, and Picton is 40 minutes away. Picton is the port of departure of the vehicle ferry for the north island of New Zealand. Kiwiss is located on Queen Charlotte Drive, probably THE best scenic road in New Zealand, and the road which straddles the hills between these two aforementioned ports.
The rooms all have names. We had Shaun the Sheep as our accommodation, the only one without a sea-view, but, like all the others, with its own bathroom. The whole house is very well appointed and there is a separate guest lounge with fridge and coffee-making facilities. Another lovely touch is that Connie writes a personalised message on your mug with your breakfast drink.
Wherever Mike and Connie are, you know you will be treated like VIPs. Thank you, Mike and Connie, for a most memorable stay and our thoughts and prayers are with you as you move on.

Spectacular view, wonderful Hospitality
We only stayed here one night on our honeymoon, but I am so glad that we did. There was wonderful hospitality, and a very sweet and cozy room with a fantastic view of the sound, and mountains.
In the evening we had time to sit and enjoy the sunset over Marlborough Sound.
In the morning we had one of the best breakfasts we were offered on our vacation, which we ate on the deck, enjoying the view.
The decor was simple, elegant, and whimsical. A lot of work has gone into the property and the view. A little closer to Havelock than Picton, and a winding drive, but very much worth it. One of my favorite stays on our three week trip.
Cell reception is spotty in this area, so make sure you know when the check in time is in advance.
