Personal service A++ for English speaking travelers
My husband and I were in Straubing for medical reasons. The hotel owners live on the premises. Owners and staff speak and understand English well enough to give directions and even personal advice to inexperienced international travelers such as us. They anticipated all our needs (including medical ones) and went beyond their duty in assisting us with various matters.
The rooms were decent and impeccably clean. The breakfast food was always excellent and the hotel restaurant served excellent food at a reasonable cost. I am not accustomed to such hard beds, but perhaps this is normal in European countries. Internet service in the rooms was good, and the owner was even helpful in getting our computer set up properly.
The hotel is situated within easy walking distance of the St. Elisabeth hospital and a local discount store, however a taxi would be recommended to the old town center, which seemed to be the shopping and restaurant hub of the city.
The hotel is small and has no activities for children, but I would recommend this hotel highly for adults or business travelers, especially those who do not know the German language.

YELLING and KICKED OUT
On 7th of September I've reserved room for two nights in hotel Römerhof in Straubing.
In the email it was clearly indicated that I need it for two nights, from 27th to 29th of September.
On my arrival on 27th of September at approximately 20:15 hours, at the reception they said that THEY MADE AN ERROR, and no room for me for that night.
Then they simply throwed me out of hotel. They have refused to call the owner saying it is too late; just after 20:15.
On my asking what to do now, the receptionist started YELLING at me, got all red in his face, and was persistent that I must go out of the hotel.
The receptionist did not try to phone another hotel to find me another room, nothing.
ALL I GOT FROM THIS HOTEL WAS YELLING AND BEING THROWN OUT IN THE EVENING!
I have never ever experienced something like this in any hotel in any country.
My humble suggestion is to avoid this hotel.

Perfect stopover
Big comfy room. Good food served in restaurant and a nice breakfast in the morning only stopped one night as we were passing through. Very happy to recommend Helpful staff value for money free parking,could've done with air conditioning but it was particularly hot which I'm guessing isn't the norm.

Saturday spectacular Straubing
Company celebration complimentary hotel. Absolutely no complaints. Room 17. two single beds. Much prefer a double bed but with a Saturday 4.00a.m. start from home, to 12.45a.m. Sunday. A comfortable single did the business. Reasonable size room with "compact" bathroom. whb. wc and shower. Small, but adequate, and spotlessly clean.
Room 17 is on Ittlinger Strasse and to the right of an entrance. None of this was a problem. Double glazing and the external roller shutter handled the traffic. Our Saturday night event did the rest. A great nights sleep for me.
Breakfast buffet in a pleasant breakfast room with traditional Bavarian Weiswurst, sweet mustard and pretzel; great.
The Romerhof is a decent place to stay. Modern, very clean, comfortable beds and decent folks. Would be happy to stay here again.
25 minute walk from Theresienplatz, but is on the bus route with taxis readily available.
If you're looking for a basic but decent hotel and value for money, the Romerhof could be what you're looking for.

Wonderful
The hotel owner and staff take care of every possible need you might have. He found me a rental car that was much cheeper per day, cooked my family breakfast when "we" would wake up, got directions and maps for us. Eckhart, the owner of the hotel, is a very sincere and friendly man and cares about his guest and their needs.
The hotel has a restaurant which is very nice and convenient, reasonably price with good food and a menu in english.
The rooms vary from comfort suites with a little kitchenette to a single room. Very clean with lovely down comforters and pillows. Beds are a bit too hard for me but that's the only negative thing I can say.
Every morning they serve wonderful rolls, coffee, tea, orange juice, a variety of sliced meats and cheeses, eggs and more.
If you have a special request, I feel quite strongly that the staff would go out of their way to please you. They took care of our pharmacy order, a police matter (I got lost), our rental car, and lot's more.
I confidently recommend staying at the Romenhof Hotel with Eckhart and Gaby and the rest of the staff.
We stayed for 3 weeks, Thank You Eckhart and Gaby!
