Worth a trip
Great location on the lake. Clean and pleasantly furnished rooms. Excellent service. Delicious food in the restaurant. Friendly staff, facing the guest.
Shortcomings that unfortunately almost all hosts have to contend with by now: Staff shortages.
Nevertheless, highly recommended! Good starting point to explore the Zittau Mountains!

Unfriendly and overbearing hoteliers and staff , cleanliness misrepresentation
Due to the admittedly fantastic location and the reviews we had decided to book this hotel.
Unfortunately, it began on arrival with this - seemingly usual in the house- snappy and condescending tone of the employees / the owner family.
We definitely expected something different from a 4 star hotel.
The cleanliness of the room left much to be desired (a note to the cheeky receptionist went unheard).
Although we were assured of a room with lake view, we got a room on the ground floor facing the lake side. A big difference...
An absolute unding (especially with the temperatures prevailing in the past few days), was to sleep with the window open, because getting into the room would not have been a big sporting challenge!
Outside our room lay loudly behaving drunken youths.
We also addressed this at the reception and asked for a remedy.
First it was said that the meadow directly in front of our window did not belong to the property and then came the statement of the junior boss "if it bothers them, then they are welcome to call the police" - I have never experienced such an impertinence in the whole decades in which I have been everywhere!
A breakfast in such a classified house looks different in my opinion:
Even if a prosecco is not obligatory at 4 stars, it is still a nice "candy" on holiday - misrepresentation!
There were no nuts or seeds for the cereal.
all dishes were banged up
Spread made of an unappetizing glass.
Salad decoration rotted
Uncleaned fridge, torn towels/shower mat.
Fly/mosquito screen worn
Light switches, shower, tiles in the bathroom have not been cleaned for some time...
On our departure we saw that the 4 star classification was valid until January 2025.
Therefore, the hotel should no longer advertise with the 4 stars, because neither the standard, let alone the friendliness , come close to this.

Dass Sie unsere Mitarbeiter als „schnippisch“ und „unfreundlich“ wahrgenommen haben, bedauern wir, da wir stets um Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft bemüht sind.
Dass Sie die Sauberkeit in den Zimmern bemängeln überrascht uns sehr, da Sie täglich das „Bitte nicht stören“-Schild an der Tür hängen hatten. Auch haben Sie uns während Ihres Aufenthalts nichts über angebliche Mängel gesagt, gerne hätten wir diese direkt behoben.
Beim Frühstück haben wir, unter anderem, vier verschiedene Sorten Müsli und Cornflakes, mit und ohne Nüssen, schade, dass für Sie nichts dabei war. Ein Glas Prosecco hätten Sie aber gerne jederzeit bestellen können, das wäre keinerlei Problem gewesen, hätten Sie uns angesprochen. Da wir unsere Frühstücksplatten immer frisch machen und sehr auf die Qualität achten, und Sie unser Personal auch dahingehend nicht angesprochen haben, können wir uns nur ein Versehen Ihrerseits vorstellen.
Unsere 4-Sterneklassifizierung wurde dieses Jahr, aufgrund unseres hohen Standards, um weitere 3 Jahre verlängert. Vielen Dank aber für Ihren Hinweis, dass wir das Zertifikat noch austauschen müssen.

Just excellent
Have been here twice now and I don’t think anything can go wrong here. Good staff, nice rooms, beautiful view.
The food in the restaurant is a big plus here, lot of options to choose from and always good.
Wouldn’t have any reason to choose another hotel if I had to be in Olbersdorf again.

Very good hotel
Haus am See is a beautiful hotel right next to the Olbersdorfer See. I am staying often at this hotel known for its good food (esp. the Surf and Turf and high quality steaks), lovely spacious rooms and friendly staff.
The tracks around the lake right in front of the hotel invite for running or walking (4,5 or 7,5km).
After that a massage or sauna visit! Good place to be.

Average Rooms, great restaurant
I regularly visit Haus Am See, as it's conveniently close to a production facility of the company I work for.
Kind staff, with good service. Rooms are quite basic, not very sound proof. But never had a real problem with that. Food in the restaurant is of very good quality and reasonably priced. They have a great chef.
Surrounding nature is beautiful. In the summer there are a lot of guest coming for hiking, biking etc. (Mostly elderly). In winter time it's more quite.
I didn't visit the nearby city (Zittau).
