A wonderful home away from home!
Menzenschwand is a small hamlet tucked away in a lovely valley set among the beautiful hills and mountains of the Schwarzwald. Our room was perfect, with two comfortable beds, nice bathroom and plenty of space, opening onto a balcony. On the ground floor there is a separate bar and relaxation area where guests can relax and enjoy snacks and drinks. On the first floor is the dining room where a sumptuous breakfast is served daily, with every imaginable thing available, including scrambled eggs and real bacon but also lots of typical European breakfast goodies. We were staying with a group and we fortunate enough to also have our evening meals in the restaurant. Sabine and Sylvia did an amazing job and treated us like royalty. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Einfach Super!
Sabina and Sylvia were wonderful hosts: although we were delayed in our arrival until 9:45 pm they were waiting and welcomed us as soon as we got out of the car and walked to the hotel entrance! Not only do they have a self-selection 'supermarket' of refreshments, but also a freezer containing ice cream for those moments of weakness!
Rooms were newly-decorated and comfortable; a peaceful terrace outside our room allowed us to unwind after our four-hour journey and enjoy the gentle noise of the river nearby. We had to be in St. Blasien on Saturday morning at 08:00am, and Sabina and Sylvia made an especial effort to give us an early breakfast at 07:15 instead of the usual 08:00. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh rolls salamis, cheeses, cereals, freshly-made confiture all served in such a friendly way.

Very good hotel and friendly staff
The rooms do not have a mini bar, but there is a shared fridge on the groundfloor you can use. There are drinks, ice creams and chips for sale at normal prices.
The rooms are cleaned daily and look shiny.
The breakfast is perfect: lots of choice and all fresh! The staff is very friendly and make you really feel at home.
If you stay for more than two nights you'll receive a Hochschwarzwald card that gives you free access to the swimming pool at the other side of the road. This card can be used for other sights in the surroundings as well.
Really a must go if you plan to stay in the surroundings!
