Breakfast

What a delicious breakfast! Although we were only four people, a large quality selection was put together for us at the buffet: Various types of sausages,- ham,- and cheeses, jams, honey, fruit, eggs were brought to the table according to our wishes - and all in a cozy atmosphere with bubbling oven and the great antiques. It was a real treat for us! Of course, we would love to come back.

A Charming Fairytale

I fell in love with this magical fairy tale hotel when I stayed over for only one night. I had called ahead to ask for a room with a balcony and a bath tub, and from my very first chat with the owner, Peter, on the phone, my friend and I were made to feel warmly welcomed. Tucked away in an idyllic forest setting, the room was brilliantly clean, comfortable, filled with charming details, framed art and prints, interesting books, telephones, complimentary chocolates, fruit, water and coffee and I enjoyed an absolute dream bath! The delicious and spectacular breakfast spread was also very enjoyable. The hospitality, quality and charm I experienced there will stay with me and I hope to return for a longer stay while Peter is still there.

Great area, but unfortunately not recommended

We had reserved for 14 people - on site there were 3 chairs ready, the rest we had to organize ourselves. When we wanted to decorate the table for the birthday girl (after questioning), we were suddenly turned on unkindly.
It rained, many guests were wet, but there was not even tea to warm up. Only filter coffee and soft drinks were offered. No tea, no cocoa for the kids. Cake from the freezer, strawberries with spray cream. The comment: "Sometimes people serve here, sometimes they don't."
As long as you are not a hotel guest and would like to enjoy a cappuccino, the Silbermühle is unfortunately not recommended.
Nice location but zero hospitality. It's a shame.

Silbermühle Wald Hotel - A Memorable Evening

What a great spot the Silbermühle Wald Hotel is, tucked away in the woods at the foot of the Teutoburger forest. The stunning, working water mill is a key feature, as is the mill pond.
We have been visiting this restaurant for over 40 years, and it has never disappointed. You get old fashioned supervised service with a smile.
The choice of food is excellent, but you have to choose your menu by 4 pm on the afternoon to ensure your table booking.
The restaurant stocks beer from the local brewery Straate, with its famous Detmolder Pils and now has a complete range of Straate beers to offer.
I chose duck breast for my main course served on a bed of oranges, it was a delightful meal.
The ambience, food and service were excellent, and made for a great evening with our friends. Well worth a visit.
Top Tip: have 2 x 2 Euro coins available – there is a barrier as you drive through the woods.

No Cake for a hiking group

We planned to have coffee and cake in the Silbermühle with a hiking group of 20 people on the way to the hill Velmerstot. We were asked to wait at the tables for ordering of the cake and not to dare ordering at the small booth where the cake was stored in a refrigerator. The service lady at the booth was extremely unkind.
Finally the group left after about 90 minutes and did not get any cake but coffee only. The Silbermühle was a bad experience on our great hiking tour. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Looks that this restaurant tries to avoid making money with customers.
