Beautiful and relaxing for families.
For families, this hotel is simply wonderful. You don't have to worry about anything and have everything to experience in the surrounding area. The food is great and every now and then they also grill outside. The hotel offers riding experiences, cat cars, a bouncy castle, and much more. It is super.

somewhat disappointed
Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed with the hotel. Based on the price, I expected more. The hotel has really aged quite a bit. There is quite a bit offered for children, although I did not find the area behind the residence to be very well-maintained. We had a room in the residence with a bathtub. Unfortunately without a shower curtain or shower enclosure. But what is great is the heated towel rail in the bathroom.
The old balcony door, the handle was already loose, the bed was super comfortable. However, I found the decoration on the headboard of the bed a bit inconvenient. My son bumped his head on it and got slightly injured. I find it annoying to always have to go from the residence to the main building and that there is no beverage dispenser in the residence. So you always have to fill your glass in the main building and walk across the street to the residence to get to your room. Impractical with a toddler.
The indoor pool needs a renovation. Around the pool, the glued sand is coming loose, which is sharp, and the tiles and the shower in the indoor pool are very slippery despite wearing pool shoes. And there were also spots on the bottom of the pool where you could get hurt. A child injured their toe. We love the water and also like to spend several hours in the water, but since you are not allowed to eat and drink in the indoor pool, that was unfortunately a bit annoying for us.
We also found the changing room very dark. In the only family changing room, there was only a dim light. I saw several families, including us, who said oh, that is too dark for the children. I mentioned that at the reception.
The food was okay. Although we have been to other Familotels that had a significantly better selection. I think that in a children's hotel, small cake forks should be part of every meal. Children do not just eat with a spoon. I always had to ask if I could get a small fork. Staff at meals very friendly, and the manager as well.
Unfortunately, we did not see Happy either.
At the reception, we only found the lady upon arrival to be very nice; the other blonde lady felt like she was always annoyed when you asked something.
Unfortunately, we imagined it a bit nicer for the rather steep price.

Great famililotel
The hotel is currently very upheaval, partly very modern renovated, partly very outdated. We had a room in the main house to avoid having to cross the street for every meal (I would also recommend).
Unfortunately, the rooms in the main house are very worn and need renovation. The rooms were very clean as the whole hotel. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent.

Perfect family holiday, in very beautiful countryside
At the beginning of August, we stayed for the second time as a family with a dog at the Hotel Der Böhmerwald – this time as part of the Active Week. We already felt very comfortable on our first stay three years ago, and this time everything was excellent again.
The hosts Andreas and Doreen Schreindorfer are very warm and attentive. Especially nice were the evenings in the beer garden with nice people and great atmosphere.
We stayed in the residence and had a renovated, very great room. The children had their own large room with bunk bed and private bathroom, we had a large double bed, couch and TV as well as a very modern family bathroom – perfect for a family holiday.
The food selection is excellent. The all-inclusive version really leaves nothing to be desired: rich breakfast, hot food at lunch, coffee, cake and bread in the afternoon and a varied buffet in the evening, some with show cooking. Little tip: better pack some more pants
There is plenty to do for children (animals for petting, goats, horses, horseback riding and riding lessons). Dogs are also welcome (not in the restaurant, but on the roof terrace and in the beer garden no problem). The surrounding area offers great excursions such as the forest top path “Wipfel der Sinne” or the toboggan run in St. Englmar.
We will definitely come back – the Bohemian Forest is 100% recommended!

Dreamlike short break
Very nice stay. The leisure activities for the children were top. Highlight was the "dwarf riding". The staff was very friendly, especially when dealing with the little ones. The food was delicious. We will definitely come back.
