We will definitely come back!

My companion has been here several times, for me it was the first time. Our room was modern and maritime decorated, clean and tidy. Very good beds. Bathroom pleasant size. Staff very friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast buffet offers something for every taste. Missing items are added quickly.
We could charge our bikes for free at the hotel.
The next stay will be in early August and we already have a Reservation for 2025.
We have heard that various rooms are renovated in winter.

Borkum's best The Kachelot Aparthotel

After a hard trip in the North sea, or just visiting the Kachelot on Borkum island you are offered a welcome second to none. It is central, it is quiet, clean and secure with service and food from Klause the manager and his team of hard working and friendly staff. The rooms are a good size on suit, and kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. The selection of food offered on the menu will suit any pallet and is cooked to a high standard with a breakfast display that gets the mouth watering when seen. After a sauna, if you just want to relax a lot of the rooms have a balcony where you can sit and soak up the sun. Don't just take my word for it, try it, you will not be disappointed.

Uitstekend verblijf

In dit hotel kun je uitstekend verblijven. Zeer attent personeel bij de receptie. Een ruime kamer en een zeer uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet.
Klein minpuntje was het diner in het hotel (te weinig keus).
Groot pluspunt was dat er twee keer onverwacht aandacht werd geschonken aan de verjaardag van mijn partner.

Ein entspannter Aufenthalt

Cachalot ist französisch und heißt Pottwal. Die Kachelotplate vor Borkum ist ein Hochsandbiotop, d.h. bei Ebbe fallen Teile der Kachelotsandbank trocken und Robben und Seehunde nutzen dies als Rastplatz. Daher der Name Hotel Kachelot. Im Oktober 2021 durfte ich im Rahmen einer großen Reisegruppe Gast im Hotel Kachelot sein und wir wurden hervorragend umsorgt. Hotelier Klaus Kühl-Peters und seine Gattin lieben ihren Beruf, das merkt man sofort und das Engagement überträgt sich flugs auf die Gäste. Das gesamte Personal verdient ebenso ein umfassendes Lob. Ok, mit Retro-Charme

Das Hotel liegt hinter dem Bahnhof in der Nähe des neuen Leuchtturms an der Fußgängerzone. Restaurants etc. sind fußläufig gut erreichbar.
Das Hotel selbst gibt sich modern, hat aber einen gewissen Retro-Charme. Gerade im Badezimmer fallen die in den 70er Jahren typischen Fliesen auf.
Wir haben das Hotel gebucht, weil es u.a. ein restaurant hat. Dieses war aber nur für Hotelgäste nutzbar und auch nur, wenn sie komplett für alle Tage des Aufenthalts dort Halbpension gebucht haben. Also mal eben dort essen gehen ging nicht.
Man hat auch (übereifrig) die Corona Schutzmaßnahmen durchgesetzt. Das Einbahnstraßensystem zum Frühstück war ja ok, aber der Rückweg ging immer aussen über die Terasse, auch bei Wind und Regen. Auf Nachfrage hiess es dann lapidar, das man ja wohl nicht aus Zucker sei.
Das Personal war überwiegend freundlich, wenn auch die Rezeption größtenteils gelangweilt schien und auf Ansprechen die Tageszeit nennen konnte.
