Lodging as a fitter in Andernach

A small snug hotel with 50s he years charm in pretty and well maintained. The rooms are relatively modern and functional. What bothers me a bit personally, but for one night was also no problem, is the bathroom. In the end, there is a shower and a toilet in a corner in the room. It looks a bit retrofitted. The sink is located in the room itself. But the room is super clean and from my room I had a great view of the Rhine promenade and the river. Breakfast was absolutely fine and, I suspect, the owners super friendly and attentive. For 1-2 nights top. If the bathroom had been a little bigger it would have been 5 stars.
Conclusion: I felt comfortable.

Out-dated

Hotel closed when we got there. Had to ring the bell to be let in. Entree was promising, but room was disappointing. Floor was tilted. Very small bathroom, basically too small for an adult. No bar, no restaurant. Excellent spot, near the river Rhein. Just cross the street and sit at the Beergarden. Weird guy who runs the place. Friendly but doesn’t seem to care anymore. At checkout he ordered his wife(?) to let me wait, because she was serving breakfast. Understandable, but the: “I don’t care if he waits for 15 minutes” was not necessary. He talked about me, knowing I was there, without realizing I understand German... Poor WiFi, had to stand in the hallway. We won’t go back...

A gem on the Rhein!

We stayed at this hotel 40 years ago(!!). The hotel is still family run and the owner and her son were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel has a lovely feeling of space, light and cleanliness from entering the front door. The bedrooms are really nice,modern and very clean. The choice for breakfast was good and the scrambled eggs were wonderful! The hotel is in a beautiful location by The Rhein and Andernach is ideal for touring by car or rail. We were really delighted we returned after all those years.

Nothing special-Weird Family

The Hotel has a great location with view on the Rhein, is reasonably clean and has "ok" Prices BUT there's where the positive things end.
I couldn't avoid thinking of the Addams family while being there. I always felt observed by the owners that gave me the feeling of being an unwelcome guest in their home instead of a neutral guest at their Hotel, but maybe that was a personal thing between me the owner (nice older lady who seems overstrained with the Hotel) and her son (who seems overstrained with everything).
The Rooms are out of a different time... the Bathrooms are built in meaning that they are neither isolated nor spacious in any way.
Breakfast was alright but nothing special.
All in all are 2 points to low but I didn't feel that it deserved 3 points given that I've never felt comfortable in the Hotel. I had a look and a small chat with the owner of the Anker Hotel next door (same location) and found that it looked nicer and was friendlier (without the Addams Family..).

Family run basic and cheerful

A family run establishment that is basic, with cheery and helpful staff, clean rooms though dishevlled public thoroughfares, the Rhein hotel is on the river front and its restaurant is popular and good value. If you get a room at the back, away from the river front the view out the window is of disused and abandoned buildings that looka s if a bomb has hit them. Strong garbage smell if the windows are left open.
