If you are looking for more than just a room and want a genuine connection to Nepalese culture and hospitality, Dulcify Cottage Sarangkot is an absolute gem. My one-night stay here was the highlight of my trip.
Authentic Hospitality & Farm Life
From the moment I arrived, I received such a warm welcome from the owner. When I asked for a tour of his beautiful farm, he didn’t hesitate for a second. This is a true family-run business, and the passion they have for their land is inspiring.
I spent a wonderful afternoon with Surya and Sabita (and their lovely family), who are some of the kindest and most hardworking people I’ve met. They walked me through the daily rhythms of the farm—from feeding the horses and picking fresh tomatoes to watering the vegetables. Their knowledge of agriculture is vast, and they were so patient in sharing it with me.
Cultural Immersion
The experience went far beyond a typical hotel stay:
* Cooking & Dining: They invited me into their kitchen to learn and practice traditional Nepali household cooking. As someone who lives alone and rarely gets to enjoy a big family meal, it was a deep honor to be invited to dine with them. Their kindness and care truly touched my heart.
* Local Festivals: One of the family members even took me to a festival ceremony at the local temple. Sharing that joyful community experience is a memory I will cherish forever.
Knowledgeable & Humorous Hosts
Both Sulia and Sabita are not only caring but also have a great sense of humor! They are incredibly knowledgeable about Pokhara and the surrounding areas, offering the best tips on local activities. You can tell they are deeply respected and active members of their community.
The Facilities
The cottage itself is excellent:
* The Room: Spotlessly clean and clearly well-managed.
* The View: Breathtaking! You get the best of both worlds—stunning views of the Himalayas and the peaceful, rolling country farm.
* Design: You can tell the property was designed with love and attention to detail.
Dulcify Cottage isn’t just a place to sleep; it’s a place to feel at home. To the family: thank you for your incredible kindness and for making me feel like part of yours for a day. I cannot recommend this place enough!
P.s. the food is amazing and organics, ingredients are all produced by the family, including eggs, milk, honey, vegetables and even ghee!!!
