Very disappointing, despite the main property being charming
Villa Margherita itself, or at least the main building, is genuinely charming, elegant and full of character. Unfortunately, this made our experience even more disappointing.
Instead of staying in the beautiful property we thought we had booked, we were accommodated in a rather anonymous apartment building about 200 metres away, completely losing the atmosphere and charm of Villa Margherita.
This arrangement was particularly inconvenient considering the weather in Swakopmund. During our stay it was cold and often covered in thick fog. Even just to have breakfast, we had to put on our warm jackets, leave the apartment building, walk to the main property and go through three or four different doors. Not exactly the experience we expected from a boutique hotel.
The room itself was also disappointing in terms of amenities: there wasn’t even a bottle of water in the fridge, and on our second day the Wi-Fi in our room stopped working.
Breakfast was another disappointment: quite basic, with very limited choice.
It is a real shame because Villa Margherita’s main property is genuinely beautiful, but staying in a separate building 200 metres away provides a completely different experience. Had we known in advance that our accommodation would be outside the main property, we would definitely have chosen somewhere else to stay.

Very beautiful lodge!
The staff is very friendly, helpful, and gives good advice.
The rooms are spacious with an old-fashioned feel; you either like it or you don't.
The cars are parked inside the lodge, which is reassuring.
We had a meal at their restaurant, excellent!
The second evening, we had it outside.
The breakfast is hearty.
Do not hesitate to tour the common rooms (open to visitors); you immediately feel another era with lounges undoubtedly reserved for men. A little English club feeling.
We loved it.
