What a superb retreat in nature!

We stayed here over last weekend and had a superb time. Michael and Sue were fabulous hosts and their villa is hidden in the quiet and surreal surroundings of Pantai. The view from the top balcony was a bliss especially during sunset. We also visited one of the local waterfalls nearby, about an hour by foot by the jungle trail. Breakfast was delicious - nasi lemak and roti on two different days. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!

Disappointing Stay: High Price, Low Standards, never again

Disappointing Stay: High Price, Low Standards
After reading the mainly positive reviews about this property it was an easy decision the pay the high price for this accommodation. We expected an exceptional service, extremely clean a property. Had we just known how wrong we were!
The only positive thing we can say about this accommodation is that the location is beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. Unfortunately, that is where the compliments end, as the property severely lacks in every other area, making it an extremely poor value for the high price charged.
The pricing is completely unjustifiable; the rate charged is comparable to what you would pay for an almost 4-5-star hotel experience in Kuala Lumpur. What we received was anything but.
The fundamental issue was cleanliness and maintenance. The air conditioning filter was disgustingly filthy, so much so that we had to clean it ourselves, since there was no air flow at all. The bathroom was in a terrible state, lacking even a basic shower curtain, the tiles were noticeably dirty, and the water drain in the sink was almost completely blocked. There is only a part time lady from Indonesia present, we think that doing all the housekeeping alone might be too much for 1 person only.
The food service was equally substandard and offensively overpriced. Meals were extremely basic—for instance, the curry appeared to be made from a pre-cooked supermarket pack. Furthermore, the dinner prepared by the lady was made in the afternoon, and we were expected to warm it up ourselves in the evening. They charged a ridiculous RM 138 for this standard dish for two people, an item that would typically cost around RM 15/person at a local food court. This blatant overcharging for low-quality, self-service food is simply unacceptable. The breakfast at least was tasty but basic (Nasi Lemak)
In summary, while the setting is idyllic, the terrible value, poor standards of cleanliness, and outrageous food pricing mean we cannot recommend this property.

The view from our room & steam boat dinner - fantastic. Rest ordinary

The location was good. The view of the mountains from our room fantastic. The staff, specially Ms Crystal was very nice and provided us with all the attention and comfort.
We booked 1 night stay to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. It costed us RM 737 including breakfast (through booking.com) which I found a bit costly keeping in mind you just get a room in a villa. We booked the room with the name "LOVE". This is the room with the best view in the villa. The villa has rooms in 3 floors. On the ground floor along with rooms, they have the reception area, kitchen. The dining area is on the verandah of the ground floor. Then there are rooms in the 1st and 2nd floor. Our room "LOVE" was on the 2nd floor, corner, overlooking the hills. As you step out of the room you have this huge balcony which runs across the whole villa from the front overlooking the mountains to behind overlooking the road to the villa. The room had a queen bed and a single bed. It is a pet friendly accommodation and we had taken our pet dog too who had a lovely time roaming around in the balcony! We had very nice tea and wine sessions in the afternoon and evening using the table in the balcony and enjoying the view.
The linen, towels provided were good and we had undisturbed and good sleep. The washroom was basic but very neat and clean. The air-condition is adequate. Limited parking available inside, rest outside.
We reached during lunch time and asked for whatever is available. They made us Fried Rice which was ok with us. For dinner they have steamboat and BBQ arrangements. That evening they did not have the BBQ option so we went for the steamboat dinner - 1 seafood and 1 chicken set with Tom Yum soup. I have to tell you that we had the best dinner experience ever. All the steamboat ingredients like chicken, prawn, clams, oysters, vegetables, mushrooms, everything was so fresh and tasty. The Tom Yum soup was awesome. The dinner costed us RM 206 but it was worth it.
Tea, coffee is on the house and you have to carry it from the kitchen to your room. Tiger beer is available.
Breakfast is too basic, specially the eggs and chicken sausages option. The other option was Nasi Lemak. We don't like Nasi Lemak in the mornings so we ordered for 3 eggs and chicken sausage option. But, I think they ran out of ingredients, so we ended up getting 2 sets of those and 1 set we had to take Nasi Lemak. The eggs and chicken option is too basic with only sunny side up eggs. Butter was provided on asking. We found it a bit disorganized and casual. I think adding a cereal option with possibility of having more egg preparations would be better.
The lunch fried rice was cold and very basic. But, I guess it is ok since they don't really seem to have a organized lunch arrangements as check ins are mostly after lunch at 2 pm. 3 X fried rice costed us a reasonable RM 60.
The WiFi is not of good quality. Though it is easily available across the villa, but it is weak.
When checking out, to settle the bill you have to pay in cash. Luckily I had enough cash. But, I think card option should be introduced.
They charged a cleaning fee of RM 50 for pet dog which I found to be quite steep!

Unexpected

We love everything about this charming place. It's a home away from home but a better one at that. The hosts Michael and Sue were very nice and friendly we felt so at ease. The keyword - comfortable - with the place and the people. The view from the rooftop at dusk is priceless and it gets chilly and windy at night, something i am already missing. Best thing to do here is do nothing. For the adventurous junkies hikes can be arranged by the hosts for a small fee in exchange for scenic waterfalls. For us, a stroll in the nearby area was just as awesome. Well, we were there purely for relaxation after all.
