A gem on the lake

We spent three nights at Norman Carr. Taffy and Leonie are perfect hosts, the resort is wonderful, and the lake is unique and not to be missed. We went snorkeling with the cychlids at Otters point, did two boat trips on Alfie (a sunset one and a fish eagles+ snorkeling one) and went for a walk along the endless Baobab Alley.

We spent a week at Norman Carr Cottage and left feeling relaxed, reset, and restored. Set right on the edge of Lake Malawi, the cottage offers the perfect mix of simplicity, charm, adventures and comfort. For South Africans, it’s a quaint home away from home.

A peaceful, low-stress destination ideal for an easy-going break.
Monkey Bay Port offers a beautifully rustic setting.

Gigantic, comfy bed with spotless white cotton sheets and soft pillows.

Renting a double cab proved a lifesaver — we were lucky to be upgraded.

An oasis of silence on Lake Malawi

We stayed a few days with the family at Lake Malawi. From the first moment we felt at home. The owners Taffy and Leoni were very pleasant and relaxed hosts. The cuisine was excellent, the people, the service just great. The recommended shuttle from the airport through Clifton Banda was very helpful. Clifton also drove us on site and so we could visit the POIs in the area and also climb a mountain. All in all a very successful experience.

Wonderful family memories on Lake Malawi

Staying at Norman Carr is like visiting an old friend. Taffy was a wonderful host and we had great service from Pilirani and the rest of the team. Our girls especially enjoyed the complimentary sunset boat cruise on Alfie. .

Perfect start to our road trip through Malawi

The small, fine complex and the beach are very well maintained. After our exciting late evening journey from the airport to the lodge, we were greeted with a delicious meal. Taffy and the entire team are very entertaining and attentive hosts. The sundowner cruises and feeding the sea eagles were particularly nice. We also went on a very nice hike to the neighboring village where you can see lots of large baobabs. In the morning, before breakfast, a pot of coffee was brought to my sun lounger, great.
We really enjoyed our time there. Thank you very much for that.
