I have stayed at the Amari Vientiane previously and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. On this occasion I was greeted by Alnia and Kong. They provided a friendly and polite service at the check-in / check-out counter which made my stay more pleasant due to my busy schedule and needing assistance at various times.

Great room

Very good location easy to travel, room is great with river view. Kevin from reception team is the most amazing , very helpful. However on my first evening it was impossible to call for in room dining despite multiple efforts to call the team. It was very strange to have that from a hotel.
Pool closes at 7PM which was quite early if you finish work and back to hotel for swimming
General the experience is good. Shout out to Kevin again

Terrible Experience with Amari Vientiane

Disappointing communication and unpolished direct-booking process
I've stayed loyal to this brand and always book direct, but this experience left me quite disappointed. When I submitted a Best Rate Guarantee claim after finding the same Room Only rate cheaper on Agoda and Booking.com, the reservations team took multiple back-and-forth emails to respond, and ultimately rejected the claim with only a vague "terms and conditions are not the same" — without any specific explanation despite repeated requests.
What stood out most was the direct booking rate plan itself: the description literally still contained unedited placeholder text, such as "Book direct and enjoy [insert BAR discount level applicable]" and "cancel free of charge up to [insert 3 OR 7] days before arrival." This is meant to be the hotel's flagship "book direct" offer, and it hadn't even been proofread.
On top of that, the direct "Best Available Rate" ended up higher than the same room and dates on Agoda and Booking.com — which defeats the entire purpose of booking direct in the first place.
I wanted this to be a special stay to celebrate my birthday, but the process left me frustrated rather than excited. Until the direct booking channel and reservations communication are cleaned up, I'd honestly recommend booking through an OTA instead — it's currently cheaper and less of a hassle.
