This place is a palace, not a “hotel!”

When we first walked up to the Champa Palace, we were awe struck. This place is so beautiful – it rivals the Mount Washington hotel in New Hampshire. It was a palace and was converted to a hotel by the grandchildren of the royal family who left Laos in the 1970s. The rooms are quite comfortable and beautifully furnished. The beds are a bit hard but they all seem to be fairly hard in Southeast Asia. The bathroom was nicely appointed and the rain shower was the best we’ve had in the past month. The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style with a large variety of options. The pool area is beautiful as are the grounds. There aren’t enough lounge chairs around the pool, but there are a lot of other places to sit nearby. We can’t recommend strongly enough that if you are in Pakse, you should stay at the Champa Palace hotel.

10/10 Well done Fantastic Stay...

100%. Well done to all the team and the work you put in to make this hotel stand out. You put other hotels to shame. Room was not ready when we arrived, then the next room had new paint smell, so they put us in the next room up. Lovely room, oh my the bed was so comfy and the pillows excellent. Big showr and bathroom, air con good, fridge and free water was nice. very helpful staff. I was not expecting much fanfair for breakfast but wow was i put in my place. Nice selection for most tastes. Best of all the price and quality 10/10. Will be back in a few weeks on my return overland trip. Also note massive car park secure. And a nice pool did not go in it, but hopefully next tine. If you are in Pakse you can not go wrong with this hotel. Stayed for reference 15 May 2026.

Great stay in Pakse

you can open the front window shutters for secure light as well as the main door, so was not an issue. Room itself lovely, lots of seating options, and comfy bed and pillows. Bathroom relatively small and my shower had an annoying raised tiled floor covering some but not all the floor. Out the front my terrace overlooked the pool and river. Found couple of nice restaurants 10 mins walk away and vibe on the Mekong at sunset was worth the 15 min stroll! Great pool , shame it was built under a tree (or vice versa). Agree the sun beds are uncomfortable and bubbles in small pool were only turned on 1 of the 3 days. Hotel set in lovely well maintained grounds. Reception and housekeeping staff very friendly, breakfast staff not so. But a great stay in Pakse, dont be put off by unorthodox look to the place.

A nice hotel, luxurious... but a little weird

The Champa Palace is a pleasant and rather luxurious hotel, with everything you need: great room, impeccable cleanliness, good service. Nothing wrong with comfort. Yet... there is something missing about charm. It’s hard to explain, but I had a strange little impression, as if the place had everything to be exceptional without really being. It’s purely personal, but the feeling was there.
We had a very large room with city views, really spacious. On the other hand, double-leaf inverted doors give an entrance and exit... say, unnatural.
Honestly, if I’m ever being chased by Freddy Krueger, I hope my survival never depends on how fast I get those doors open — I’d probably be dead in the hallway by now
In summary: comfortable, clean, rather luxurious, but with a small strange atmosphere difficult to define. Very good to sleep, but not necessarily to fall in love with the place.

The scenery is very beautiful, especially the wooden bridge behind! When the afternoon comes, the gentle breeze seems to take us to a fairyland. Really heartwarming. The rooms are clean and airy! The staff is very friendly! Will introduce friends to check in in the near future!
