Charming hideaway near the heart of the city

The room, particularly the bathroom, looks worn out from the years, but thence its beauty and charm derive: the air conditioning, water, amenities are comparable to offers from a newer hotel, but I would rather stay here, again and again! Just like the country and its people. It’s irresistible and calling for my return visit, soon. And did I forget to mention its proximity to the main stretch?

READ ME!!! AVOID

DO NOT BOOK HERE… they did the same as a previous booking. The day I fly they had no room. Luckily I tried to confirm before I left. Terrible place that will not have a room, then they offered to do lower pay outside booking website. AVOID at all costs

Nice Interior, pity about everythIng else

I booked a 4 night stay at Villa Angthong. When I first arrived I was told they had made a mistake and overbooked such that they did not have a room for me. They offered to put me up in alternative accommodation nearby for that night and that they could take me the next day. I asked that in return they would give me a quiet room off the ground floor as the 3 rooms (101,102 & 103) are right be the entrance and the kitchen, eating, smoking area and would in my opinion be quite noisy. Also as the window looked out onto this area you would have no privacy unless you kept your curtain closed.
I returned the next day and yes, I got room 102. It was the same person who had the previous day said no problem to having an upstairs room. He just said sorry we are full this is the only room. Furthermore I would have to take it for 2 nights as there were no other rooms available for me to move until then. So I refused to check in and went elsewhere.
I did see the room and it is well finished and looks just like their photos, it’s also spacious, however completely lacking in privacy unless you keep the curtains permanently closed. I would not re staying here unless you’re a heavy sleeper. The hotel did give a full refund without any fuss so for that I’ll give it 2 stars

Good for Backpackers!

This spot is best for low-maintenance and highly-independent travelers.
Recommendations:
- Do self-booking of Bullet train ticket and tuktuk so you wouldn’t be stressed extending, rebooking, and recalculating your budget.
- Washroom floor has floor leak , risk for accident especially for kids.
- They can surely manage to book you the “Alms Giving” , they give you items(food, carpet, and clothing cover).
- Food was just fine, go get their noodle soups! It’s best for mornings since it always around 12-13 degrees at that time.
- Friendly staff, shout out to Senglao, even if he MISSED(2x) to book our train ticket as advised 2 days prior the schedule and the Tuktuk request to bring us to the pick up location of our service.

Well-located and comfortable

We booked two rooms in this spacious and spotlessly clean villa. Unfortunately, on our first night we encountered non-stop chanting from one of the Buddhist festivals, so the manager kindly relocated us to a beautiful villa on the other side of the town. Had the chanting not been so pervasive, we would have happily stayed at Villa Ang Thong for our five day holiday in Luang Prabang. The location is excellent, especially for visiting the cheap and delicious night markets or more expensive but extraordinary Manda de Laos restaurant. There is also a supermarket close by. Villa Ang Thong's breakfasts are enjoyable, especially as they are served in the lovely garden. We travelled in early December when the days were clear and dry, but the nights chilly. Pack something warm for night-time.
