I had a warm and cozy stay here — it felt just like staying at a friend’s house. The price was great, and the location was perfect, right by the Mekong River. There are many restaurants and small shops in front of the guesthouse, and it’s also close to the night market.
The Chinese receptionist was very friendly. We communicated through a translation app, and they helped me with everything. They even invited me to join them for lunch every day during my 3-night stay.
The Google Maps location might not be perfectly accurate, so you may need to go about 100 meters further.
I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Luang Prabang.

Amazing location with character. The shower was hot. Very happy for the price. The doors are creaky and walls thin, but its to be expected for an old place.

Kongkham is a Chinese-owned guesthouse in a historic building across from the river and very close to the night market, restaurant, and temples. It’s a decent place for the convenient location and relatively low price.
That said, the room itself also feels historic. The sheets may have been cleaned but had many gross stains. There was a huge cockroach in the bathroom—maybe that is common here? The wifi sometimes had issues. The room felt run-down.
For the price, I was expecting more but this appears to a good value for Luang Prabang. The saving grace was the owner who invited us to fish and offered much assistance. He was always available to fix any problems we had.
Thus, if you are on a budget and want to stay in a great location, Kongkham is not a bad choice.

The room is very clean and well located. The host is very friendly and kind and he invited me to spend the 1st January with him 😁 I highly recommend
