Amazing experience
We ended our Cuba trip in Havana, where our original host provided us with an alternative as the first place we rented was already booked: Our only regret is not to have stayed on the Purple house as our first option when we arrive at la Havana ten days before.
Alejandro and his family treated us like such, gave us a tour around Havana and led us to an understanding of Cuba and its society which we had yet not understood.
Beautiful place and beautiful people at a more than convenient price: What else could we have wished for? Trust him and his family and your stay in Havana would be not be forgotten.

The worst place I've stayed in Cuba
This is not a casa particular, it's a room house tinderbox firetrap waiting for a disaster to happen. The rooms are grotty, linked by gangplanks, my bathroom was shared with random guys off the street, the doors were difficult to open and close, I felt so claustrophobic I slept with the door open, my safety taking higher priority over my stuff being stolen. Avoid at all costs.

Read this before you make reservation
Don't be misled by nice photos of Alejandro with guests on the web pages! Although he is very responsive to emails and helpful before we arrived, he is actually not on site. So you better speak Spanish as there's no one who can speak English on site. If you do, Margarita will do her best to help you with whatever you may need. Big credits for her! The location of the casa is perfect, close to Malecon (you can actually see the sea from tge terrace), as well as to Paseo del Prado and Chinese district. The rooms are small and some of them are renovated but others could be really better maintained. The rooftop... is nice but it's really difficult to get there, so I haven't seen anyone been using it. And the breakfasts... well, the best coffee but the breakfast itself is very basic compared to other casas in Cuba at this standard price of 5 CUC.
To sum up: it was a nice stay thanks to Margarita. She's really doing her best to make you feel comfy. Would I go there again? I'd probably look for a casa with larger rooms and better breakfasts.

Quiet room
Nice welcome from the hosts. I had a room on the second floor which was really quiet (which is not so common in Cuba) but it wasn't really beautiful. The toilet flush was broken. But the shower was great. And they allowed me to leave my backpack for the day and take a shower in another bathroom as my plane was late at night the day after. The location is great.

Casa Purpura
Casa Purpura was in a great location, 10-15 minute walk from Calle Obispo and many central places. The room was very small, but clean and had our basic needs. Ivette, who owns the casa, was not there, but her mother, Daisy, and other staff were very helpful and friendly. Margarita runs the casa (cooks, cleans, helps with everything you need), and she was AMAZING to us--she helped us make arrangements and called taxis for us. She was warm and loving and took care of us!
